I am always searching for the next concert. I have a long bucket list of bands I still have yet to see live, including The Shins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Modest Mouse, but I've had my fair share of great concerts. There are some concerts that can just change your life. So, here, in order, is the list of bands I highly recommend you see if you ever have the chance.
Third Eye Blind. This is my favorite band of all time, by far. I flew all the way to Las Vegas with my family and my best friend to see them live in a free concert on Fremont Street. I know you have all heard the songs "Jumper," "Semi-Charmed Life," and "Never Let You Go." 3EB is going on tour this summer almost everywhere, so if you are in any way interested, buy a ticket. Best concert of all time.
Vampire Weekend. I may just be freakishly obsessed with Ezra Koenig, but this band puts on the most fun show. Their style of music just forces you to dance. And seriously, Ezra Koenig is the hottest male on this planet.
The Rolling Stones. I got to see them in Madrid, Spain, while I was studying abroad. It goes without saying that this was an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime chance.
Blink-182. If you want to see Travis Barker drum upside down, you need to see them in concert. I cannot think of one person who doesn't like Blink-182, and seeing them my junior year of high school was a great experience.
New Politics. I don't listen to their music as much, but the lead singer can break dance and does backflips on stage. I went to their concert at Buzzfest only knowing one song, but I had so much fun just watching this band have so much fun.
Dave Matthews Band. They come to my hometown venue, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and open their tour every year in the early summer. It's such a chill and laid-back concert -- perfect for a pavilion concert with all of your friends.
John Mayer. The most entertaining guitarist of all time. Plus, his voice and looks aren't too bad either.
Kings of Leon. They headlined at Austin City Limits in 2013. It was nighttime and they had the coolest lighting. Additionally, they sound perfect live.
The Postal Service. Ben Gibbard is just the man. At Free Press Summer Fest in 2013, we had to choose between The Postal Service and Calvin Harris. While everyone was headed to Calvin Harris, we got to go sit on the hill and listen to "Such Great Heights."
Arctic Monkeys. They're becoming huge and put on a great show. A must-see.
That's just my top ten, but in addition, you should definitely add these to your list: Milky Chance, Bear Hands, Jack Johnson, The Dirty Heads, Sublime with Rome, Grouplove, Portugal. The Man, Matt & Kim.
