Well, it is that time of the year again. School is back in session and a little bit of my soul has died. Days of sleeping in until noon or driving around with friends until 3AM are traded in for 8AM classes and late nights filled with studying and writing essays. It is a bittersweet feeling rolling back onto campus; on one hand I am happy about having a routine and structure again, but on the other I really kind of enjoy being a lazy couch potato. There is no better group of people to explain the confusing time of going back to school than our good old buddies from the TV show Friends.
When it is moving day and your dorm is on the third floor
When the chemisty professor hands you the syllabus and you see attendance is mandatory, the final is cumulative, and each test is worth 25% of your grade.
When the syllabus and class expectations PowerPoint changes into chapter one on the first day
When the professor assigns massive amounts of homework on the first day
When the freshman 15 follows you into your sophomore year
When the cutest boy ever from the soccer team sits next to you in your accounting class
When you walk into your biology class to find out you actually have some friends in the class
When it is already time to pull that first all nighter
Walking into class the first time and trying to make that awesome first impression
Listening to the inevitable first day drama your friends are already going through
When you try to justify not having to go to that ratchet 8AM intro to business class
When you find out attendance is not a grade and is not mandatory
When your friends want to go to the first Friday night party, but you want to binge watch season four of One Tree Hill
When that cute soccer player from accounting says Hi to you in the hallway
When your Spanish teacher makes you share a few sentences with the class the first day
When there is actually exciting things going on during welcome week
When the teacher continues to lecture five minutes after class was supposed to get out
When you actually attend every class the first week of school
When your economics teacher gives you a pop quiz on only the second day of class
When you get a little extra freaky at the first party of the school year
When you find out that co-ed intermural sports really are not for you
When you know that you are going to completely rock this school year
I know, it is crazy that our four month long summer is over and it is already time for another school year, but luckily we all have some pretty great Friends that completely understand us and the struggles the school year brings. Let's go and rock this school year!
