Bachelorette Of The Week: Maddy Peterson

Name: Maddy Peterson

Year in School: Sophomore

Hometown: Madison, WI

Sorority: Alpha Phi

Major: Nursing

Sign: Scorpio

Maddy is living proof that blondes do have more fun. She is always up for a night on the town and loves adventure.

1. All-time favorite movie?

To be honest I don't have ONE favorite, but my favorites are the comedies I've seen a million times that still have me laughing. For example, Ace Ventura, Talladega Nights, Superbad, and Napoleon Dynamite.

2. Favorite season?

My favorite season would have to be summer. But the BEST time of year is August/September. You get the best of both worlds! Football season has begun and your friends are back from school, yet you can still lay outside in a swimsuit because the weather is beautiful!

3. Describe your ideal date.

My ideal date would include going out to dinner somewhere where we could sit outside (Graze, The Old Fashioned, or Cooper's Tavern to throw out a few ideas), and then go to the Union to watch the sunset and get ice cream.

4. Favorite concert you've ever been to?

My favorite concert I've ever been to was Florida Georgia Line at Country USA. Yes, the hype of CUSA added to the fun but the band played all my favorite songs and were just great performers overall.

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully I'll have my Master's in nursing and live somewhere near Lake Michigan in my favorite city, Chicago!

6. What's your favorite way to spend a summer day?

My favorite summer activity is spending the day out on the boat. Nothing beats pulling up to the party cove with a bunch of friends, listening to country music and throwing around a football.

7. Celebrity crush?

Probably Aaron Rodgers. I mean he's hot, athletic and lives in Wisconsin (half the time). What else could a girl want?

8. What are you most excited to go back to school for?

The thing I'm most excited for going back to school is getting to live in my sorority house and seeing all those girls again. Last year was a blast, but going into the school year knowing a bunch of people already will make it even better!

9. Ben and Jerry's or Babcock?

It all depends on my mood! Babcock ice cream is perfect for when you need a lil' something after dinner or during the day. Ben & Jerry's is perfect for when you feel lazy and just want to eat a whole pint and watch Netflix.

10. Biggest pet peeve?

One of my biggest pet peeves is when you're hanging out with a friend and they're constantly texting their "sig" other. It's like c'mon you hung out yesterday! What could possibly be so new and exciting that you have to have a two-hour texting conversation about it?

11. What's the first thing you notice about a guy?

What they're wearing? I don't know this is a tough one...but honestly the first thing I notice about a guy while talking to them is how confident they are. Confidence can tell you a lot about someone's personality (remember this boys).

Maddy... you're basically perfect and awesome.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
