The Bachelorette/Bachelor Shows False Hope At Love, Try to Change My Mind.

Am I the only girl who doesn't spend Monday nights watching this fake show?

The Bachelorette/Bachelor Shows False Hope At Love, Try to Change My Mind.

Monday nights. You and your girlies got your glasses of wine and snacks, ready to sit in the living room and watch the Bachelor or Bachelorette. You're probably fantasizing about how it should be you finding your love through an ABC reality TV show that tries to make it seem like you can go on a dating show and find your true love. Honestly? ABC is trying to set the standards higher than they should be, and giving you false hope at finding your true love/ 'the one'.

I used to joke all the time that I wanted to find my future husband on a show like the Bachelor or Bachelorette, but, as I got older, I realized that this is just all a charade for some public attention and scrutiny. You're putting yourself up against 25 to 30 women, trying to win over the heart of some semi-attractive male that's desperate to get in some girl's pants (Because to be honest, he hooks up with almost all the girls, we just don't see what happens when the cameras stop rolling).

Here are some reasons as to why I believe this show is a big scam and gives unrealistic dreams for women.

1. Eyes are always on you.

Giphy

I'm sure if you're like me, you don't want your entire dating life televised to millions of viewers weekly. Millions of people tune into the show and its spinoffs to see who's going to be the lucky one to fall in love with the bachelor or bachelorette, and I'm sure it gets pretty uncomfortable after a while.

2. Dates are completely over the top.

Giphy

Sorry ladies, but the man isn't going to be taking you sky diving or on some adventurous date all the time; He gets to do that because the television network is paying for the dates. If anything? After you get yourself a man from this show, you'll be spending dates at the movie theater eating overpriced popcorn and trying to get all cozy while you watch Toy Story 4.

3. Talking about the dates? Forget about it.

Giphy

You get a date with a cute guy; SCORE! You can't wait to tell your girls about it and how cute he is and how much fun it was. Sike, forget that. ABC has a strict no phones policy so all the dates you experience on the show, you can't tell your friends about because most times, it's before they're even aired on national television. All you have for options are the psychologist on the show (Which, doesn't surprise me that there's a psychologist on hand), or the other competitors, but often, it'll seem like you're bragging to them. But, that brings more tension and more fun to the game.

4. The conversations are...awkward.

Giphy

You're meeting these people for the first time, of course you're not going to know what to talk about. But, throughout the whole show, you aren't really getting to know the romantic partner as much as you would like to in order to determine if they are the one for you. It's like having a first date every time you two are together for a 'date'. The awkward silences, the long pauses in between questions, not knowing how to respond to said question, it's just a recipe for disaster.

5. The relationships usually don't last.

Giphy

Out of the twenty-something seasons the Bachelor and it's spinoffs have been on television, only six couples still remain together. Not only does that show how unrealistic this whole concept of 'finding love' is, but it also shows that even if you think you're going to fall in love with the man or woman, most often than not, you'll be broken up not too long after. The reality of it is, you need to find someone you can actually get to know with no cameras constantly on your life and basically stalking your every move with the person you're trying to make fall in love with you.

So, to make a long story short, I won't accept your rose, because I'm sure that you've given other roses to other women and that's not loyalty. I need a man who's gonna buy me boxes of roses, then I'll accept your rose.

Scarred

One of the darkest moments in my family's life.

I knew this day was coming when my mother’s decided to get spinal surgery. February 20, was the date her surgery was set. It was a normal day in school when I received the message of a lifetime. My oldest sibling telling me our mother’s surgery went wrong. Imagining what could possibly go wrong made my eyes water. Felt like I was the only person on my bus. Everything was silence and my mind was racing. There was never a positive thought in my head. Taking the last step off the bus and the first step onto the porch, everything was real.

SO, I've just recently had the fortunate experience to be reminded just how Michigan rains. Now, before you roll your eyes at me, I HAVE EXPERIENCED RAIN (in regards of the the popular joke that Californians haven't). However, I have to agree; after experiencing one of Michigan's thunderstorms (with my college's sirens blaring in the background), it comes to mind just how different "rain" is between the two states:

6 Things Owning A Cat Has Taught Me

Owning a pet can get difficult and expensive. Sometimes, their vet bills cost hundreds of dollars just for one visit. On top of that, pets also need food, a wee wee pad for a dog, a litter box with litter for a cat, toys, and treats. Besides having to spend hundreds of dollars on them, they provide a great companion and are almost always there when you need to talk to someone. For the past six years, I have been the proud owner of my purebred Bengal cat named Spock. Although he's only seven years and four months old, he's taught me so much. Here's a few of the things that he has taught me.
