For 11 seasons we have had physiological reactions to this character’s catchphrase “Hey, Baby girl." In fact, I’m salivating now just picturing his face as he looks at Penelope. But last Wednesday solidified that we will no longer hear those words again unless we watch re-run episodes of the CBS drama. FBI Special Agent Derek Morgan, played by actor Shemar Moore, made his final appearance on “Criminal Minds” in a touching farewell episode.
Now for those that are unfamiliar with CBS's "Criminal Minds", Special Agent Derek Morgan is one of one of six characters that work for the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) that specializes in profiling serial killers. Special Agent Morgan plays the sensual tough guy. He has a troubled past that he hides with his tough exterior. However, with his toughness reeks passion. What made us really surprised about Morgan's exit is that he loved his job and he loved what he got out of it. He along with his BAU family have successfully solved over a hundred cases as well as saving many lives along the way. Like many other favorites from other drama series, Derek has gained a fandom that wants to be his special "baby girl".
“Criminal Minds” writers hinted around his exit when they geared several episodes toward Derek. From kidnappings to attacks and the almost death of his wife and child Derek Morgan left with a BANG. When interviewing with TVLine, Shemar said, “I didn’t direct, I didn’t write, but I grew, and I’m leaving because I want to continue to grow as an actor, I’m leaving to see what else I’m capable of.”
Fans have sent outpouring tweets to him after his emotional exit:

I don’t know whether to cry or start putting on make-up because Moore said that one of the reasons that he’s exiting the show is because he’s ready to settle down with a wife and kids. For eleven seasons we have been enraptured with his relationship with Penelope Garcia, almost rooting for them to get together, however, our rooting has to stop. Shemar left this cast with a beautiful exit and he didn’t leave his fans out of it either.
