Awkward Stages

We all have them ... well, most of us anyway.

Awkward Stages
Girl Code

We all know those people that seem to have never gone through an awkward stage in their life. Now more than ever, girls look way older than they should with all the makeup and revealing clothes. With the media flooding young minds at every direction, many girls will try their hardest to not go through an awkward stage. It's ridiculous to look up hot middle schoolers, yet there are so many articles and videos about how to look hot and sexy in middle school. That's just a little ridiculous.

We all have that one friend that brags about not having one. Sure, some people don't. Like these folks. These girls above ... don't really have an awkward stage. But many of us do. So I'd like to share with you the moments I found on my computer from my awkward stage that lasted from about second grade all the way to ninth grade.

It was a long and windy road, but there is indeed a God. Once puberty hit, my whole world and appearance changed.

Thank God for puberty.

Here are some beautifully awkward photos of my awkward stage:

My sister and I never went through an awkward stage in our lives. Those boots and flip flops are on point!

Why are we wearing those skirts hiking in the Yosemite ... I have no idea.

I also thought it would be a good idea to wear a skort rock climbing. Where was my mother and her logic?

Why did I decide to wear a skort to a circus? Yet again, I have no idea.

Wow, look at those shoes and gauchos! WHAT ARE THOSE?

Dat backpack doe!

One question ... why in the hell are you wearing another skort to go on a mining tour?

What is that bandanna? Like, who wears those?

Wow! Cute braids, sunglasses and of course those shoes! Your first day of sixth-grade outfit is on point!

Can we just have a conversation about your outfit choices, little Emily? Stop being a wannabe of your sister with that same exact pose.

What is with the t-shirt under the tank top?

What the actual f*ck were you thinking? You look like the dog from "Lady in the Tramp," but with pink highlights. That "Be Weird" shirt describes this pictures to a T.

Remember when you had a fashion show birthday party? That was some lame ass sh*t.

Wow, look at that cute headband and clutch from the one and only Claire's.

Wow! Cute flip phone Emily!

Wow, did you do your makeup all by yourself?

Making your friend lie in the grass and using a black and white filter does not make it photography, little Emily.

You don't like bad boys ... you barely even talk to boys in general.

Cute crimped hair, man!

You better make some more room for Jesus there! This is your first school dance, but seriously girl, have some self-respect and some self-control.

Whoa, look at that bad*ss b*tch right there.

Killer shorts, man!

Stop with the stupid photo edits! Oh lord, nobody cares!

Just stop!

Wipe off all that eye liner please ... It is a phase, Emily Dale.

Stop with the heart signs! Dear God!

Wasn't it like June when you took this photo with that long sleeve shirt? And wow, cute crafty calendar back there. LOL!

You're not a model.

Stop.

Seriously stop! You're not a model, hun!

What is that dress shirt skirt thing?

What are those glasses? Again, what is that dress? Ahhh!

Oh my god! Remember when you made your own Justin Bieber shirt for your first concert? Emily + JB. Just stop!

Oh, look at that little cheerleader who's going to quit cheer in two weeks.

Whoa, look at that cute perfectly planned outfit for the first day of freshman year.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
