Let's be honest: Women don't always get to be dynamic characters on television, and many times are often used as significant others to drive the plot of the male protagonist. Despite all of the progress made in the past 60 years, there is still room for growth.

That being said, there are some awesome ladies of TV that just can't be ignored and can't go unnoticed. These women dominate their fields, break stereotypes, and are fiercely loyal to those they hold close.

Let's get to it: A list of some of the coolest TV characters who happen to be female.

1. Carol Peletier, The Walking Dead.

Expert zombie slayer who grew through extreme personal tragedy and completely fine tuned survival techniques. This lady is not only one of the most well developed female characters, but one of the best current characters in general.

2. Penelope Garcia, Criminal Minds

A vigilante hacker with a sharp tongue turned FBI technical analyst because she was too good to catch? Now that's what a call a Woman in Charge. She excels in a male dominated field and is not only at the top, but she is the absolute best.

3. Olivia Pope, Scandal

Expertly portrayed by Kerry Washington, this woman runs DC and isn't afraid of exposing the truth when need be.

4. Lorelai Gilmore, Gilmore Girls

Not only is Lorelei a strong business woman, but she raised her Ivy League daughter all on her own when she was still a child herself, was able to repay all of her debts, and eventually fix her relationship with her parents- All while looking absolutely fabulous.

5. Eleven, Stranger Things

Eleven is a girl that in a week was able to escape captivity, take down an evil monster through self-sacrifice, and learn what it means to be a friend. Call me impressed.

6. Toph Beifong, Avatar The Last Airbender

Despite her being blind, Toph reminds us all that anything is possible, all while being kind to others. Along with that, she is never afraid to defend herself and fight for what she believes in. Plus, she can move rocks with her mind!

7. Dr. Rainbow Johnson, Blackish

Bow is not only a successful and hardworking anesthesiologist, but a wonderful and supportive mother to her four children. Who said you can't do it all? Because this awesome lady of TV clearly missed the memo.

8. Lucy Ricardo, I Love Lucy

A hardworking, groundbreaking, grape-crushing, chocolate eating, back-talking, joke making, job-changing woman who has filled our hearts with joy and our lives with laughter for over fifty years.

9. Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy is a girl that can fight her demons, kill some vampires, save the world, and still make it to history class. This girl is the ultimate baddie and slays at everything she does. (Did you get that, haha, did you?)

10. Jessica Day, New Girl

Jess isn't afraid to be her silly self. She always tries to do the right thing for others, even if it risks her own happiness. She's driven, hardworking, and a supportive friend to all of her equally quirky roommates. Jess is a positive influence on all those she encounters, and knows the power of simply sharing a smile.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
