Avocado Appreciation

Ah, avocados. I’m sure if you’ve landed on this article the mere mention of the fruit made you smile. I’m right there with ya. There’s something about avocados that makes that make them so easy to eat but so impossible not to enjoy. Plus, there are countless ways to enjoy this nutritious fruit, while simultaneously benefiting your health.

There’s been a song written about avocados, promotional events and commercials made for avocados and even costumes designed to make people look like avocados.

It’s clear to see this delicious fruit is enjoyed by many, but how can you benefit from the tasty joys of this green snack?

Well, to reiterate, avocados have multiple benefits for your health. What? You get to enjoy the rich buttery taste of the yummy fruit while also keeping your health in tact? Darn right you do.

Not only are avocados high in healthy fats, but they are also extremely nutritious. With higher potassium than bananas, avocados contain essential vitamins such as vitamin B, C, and E.

Also, by simply making avocados part of your diet, you’re automatically healthier than people who stay away from consuming the fruit!

So if you’re an avid avocado eater, you must be wondering, what other ways can I eat avocados other than the plain old original way (Although, there’s nothing wrong with that way, either)?

For one, you can mash up cut-up bits of the avocado, combine it with cilantro, tomatoes and a bit of salt, and now you have guacamole! Grab some chips, and enjoy!

Another way to eat avocados that’s becoming highly popular is to bake eggs into them. Yes, you heard correctly. To do this, preheat your oven to 450 degrees, slice the avocado, place both halves on a baking tray, and crack an egg into each half! Keep them in the oven for 12 minutes and then enjoy your breakfast of champions.

Other interesting ways to combine your avocados into other creations include tossing it into a chicken salad, substituting it for mayo in your sandwich, or adding an extra special touch to the classic BLT. Which would technically make it a BLAT. Haha (Please, bear with me).

As you can see, avocados are most likely the superfood of all fruits out there. They're easy to eat, easy to combine into other recipes and have a lot of good stuff for your body!

So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and “peel the avocado” and enjoy!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
