Avenger Rankings, Worst To First

We all know Hawkeye is the worst, but, who's next?

As promised in my previous article on Big Ten Conference mascots, I have decided that in anticipation of the upcoming Avengers movie this spring, it's officially time to rank the Avengers, worst to first. The way I grade the characters is not solely on their abilities, but rather the overall appeal of the character. But even then, Hawkeye is always going to be last, just to make that clear.

8. Hawkeye

Hawkeye is pretty horrible. His character overall in the Avengers' new movies is basically to sit there and be as dry as possible. He doesn't do anything cool, and he certainly can't save the world like his counterparts. Much like the Hawkeyes of Iowa, he sucks.

7. Vision

I am always confused by Vision. I can't seem to figure out if he's supposed to play a large role, or just sit there and feed advice to the Avengers, who rarely listen to what he has to say anyway. The only redeeming quality about him to me is that he isn't Hawkeye.

6. Scarlet Witch

Scarlet is better than Hawkeye and Vision because she actually brings some cool qualities to the team. She is able to manipulate energy and just destroy people with it. I do wish her character was a bit deeper, but her powers make her better than the former two.

5. Hulk

I get it. He's big, mean, and green, but what qualities does he bring to the team other than that? When he's not mad, he's just a lame doctor who gets into fights with all the other Avengers. BUT he does have the ability to destroy pretty much anything when he wants, so that's pretty cool.

4. Black Widow

She's a badass, plain and simple. Unlike Hawkeye, Black Widow's character has some depth and makes contributions to the team that don't involve sitting in the background and agreeing to everything that the people around her say — like Hawkeye (still horrible).

3. Captain America

Hear me out on this, I love America and would consider myself a patriot through and through, but Captain America isn't good enough to be considered an elite avenger. Sure, his backstory is pretty cool, and he's skilled in what he does, but oh my, I have never seen a bigger prima donna in my life. This man continually chooses to be petty with his teammates and doesn't ever have anything positive to say to, or regarding, his teammates. The only reason I put him towards the top is because he displays a fierceness about him that encourages other people around him, which makes him a good and deep character.

2. Iron Man

Iron Man is my favorite character in the Avengers, but I don't think he's the best Avenger overall. Here's why: Iron Man is an extremely well-developed character. The way he is able to be Tony Stark and Iron Man at the same time is amazing. The wit and sarcastic manner he carries about himself is amazing, yet his ability to be serious and share wisdom is also great. However, his natural abilities don't include much more than being a genius. without the suit(s) he can't do much. But, with the suit on, he is the best character in the series.

1. Thor

What a guy. Thor wins best Avenger in my book for many reasons. He always seems to be the Avenger who can resolve nearly every situation. He doesn't get ahead of himself, and, at the same time, he has a Herculean strength about him. His character is easily one of the most developed of all, and I think most people would agree, it's pretty hard to genuinely dislike the guy. Let's be real, Thor is clearly the best because without Thor, Marvel would have a hard time producing movies without including Thor's extraterrestrial enemies.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
