It has only been a little over a week since directors Anthony and Joe Russo debuted the summer masterpiece "Avengers: Infinity War" Critics like Michael O’Sullivan from the Washington Reporter are saying "Infinity War" takes you places that most superhero movies don’t and where you may not want to go," and I can totally agree with that, however, he may have missed a few things in his analysis of what is probably the most incredible superhero film to date (sorry Justice League, CGI Superman isn’t the best Superman).
To summarize what occurred throughout the movie without spoilers is nearly impossible, but I’ll try my best. This mega movie blockbuster stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Bosen, and so many others.
It’s insane; the star-studded list never seems to end. In "Infinity War," the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy finally meet the formidable villain known as Thanos. Thanos is the last of his kind, and he tries to “save” the overpopulated universe with his radical solution, genocide. Crazy right? It’s up to our beloved heroes to stop this mad plan, and it’s safe to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe you’ve come to know won’t be the same when you leave the theater.
Film fanatics like me will appreciate the beauty of the film. From the characters to the cinematography, each scene is better than the last. Characters like Thanos could easily have been stereotyped and been cliche like any other movie villain, however, Thanos is organic in that he actually believes he is being merciful and looking out for the universe. He’s not motivated by greed or power. He wants peace and to live the simple life after doing his duty to “save” the universe.
The look of the film is not typical either. It is unbelieve how realistic and precise this film is especially when you realize most of it is Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) and green screens. But the wide angles and close-ups can give viewers the chills.
If you haven’t seen "Infinity War" yet, and do not know the outcome, be prepared to have your jaw drop and your world rocked. It is an emotional rollercoaster that is well worth the two-hour and forty-minute ride.
