Leaves falling, Pumpkin Spice Latte in hand, and driving through torrential downpours. Autumn has officially arrived in the Metro Detroit area. The gorgeous fall colors can be seen on your drive to work or school. The smell of seasonal bonfires fills your senses at nightfall.
Attend a Tigers game as they, yet again, try to make the playoffs with the final games left in the season. Friday nights are spent watching your hometown football team while Saturday is spent watching University of Michigan or Michigan State University, but don't forget to cheer local for the Wayne State Warriors. And for Sundays are spent watching another stressful Lions game.
Field trips and days with family are spent at one of the many orchards and cider mills. Grab some fresh doughnuts and some hot apple cider as the children climb the hill made out of hay. Get to see the animals at the petting zoo and maneuver around another difficult, but festive corn maze.
Date nights can be spent going to one of many, haunted houses and hayrides. After being scared. cuddle up by the warm bonfire, while drinking hot chocolate.
Greenfield Village has special events for this season, as they have Harvest Days and Halloween Nights, which is sure going to be a spooktacular time.
Pumpkins are bought to be carved for a traditional decoration as All Hallows' Eve approaches. Trick or treating commences, and the children hurry to get the most candy they possibly can.
Thanksgiving is the last hurrah for the lovely short autumn season. It's spent being with family and watching the parade in the morning as the turkey is just going into the oven And in the afternoon, the appetizers come out as the Lions come on to play their traditional Thanksgiving Day game, (warning, screaming/yelling may occur while cheering for the Honolulu Blue and Sliver).
Autumn in Metro-Detroit is just one of the many things that makes this are special. So grab your pumpkin spice latte, a warm sweater, and your favorite person and go out for a nice drive to look at the beautiful seasonal colors. And perhaps go to one of the many different events going on around town.
