It's official: fall has arrived! So many people look forward to fall, and it's not hard to see why. Cooler temperatures, warm food, and a number of great holidays are just around the corner. Here are the top five ways you can tell that yes, your favorite season is in fact here, and it isn't going anywhere.
1. It's that time again...
Admit it. Either you've seen it, or you've done it yourself. I guess people are preparing for the new "Star Wars" movie early.
2. Crunchy leaves
Few things are more satisfying than running through a pile of newly fallen leaves. It's like the rush you get when popping bubble wrap, but even more so. As if walking over them isn't good enough, riding a bike sends the stray ones flying up next to you. What's not to love?
Also, they can be useful. Want to know if you're close enough to the curb when parking? Just listen for the sound of leaves crunching under your tires. If you can hear it, you're likely close enough to the side.
3. Your favorite sweater
Maybe it's the hoodie you've had since you were a freshman. Maybe it's the one given to you just last winter by your significant other. Maybe it's the one your grandma knitted with your initials right on the front. Whatever form it comes in, your favorite sweater finally gets to make its cold weather comeback.
4. Pumpkin-flavored EVERYTHING
Pumpkin flavoring isn't just for coffee any more. You can find pumpkin muffins, breads, pies, even some sandwiches. Can't stand the taste, but love the smell? Pumpkin-scented candles and air fresheners have you covered. Let's not forget the actual pumpkins you can take home and carve from local farms.
And speaking of carving...
5. Halloween
Free candy. An excuse to be in costume. Murder mystery parties (or just get-togethers in general). It's not difficult to see why this spookiest of dates is the favorite holiday of many students. Some people go all-out decorating their homes with cobwebs and gravestones, greeting trick-or-treaters at the door in full holiday attire.
...Did I mention free candy?
