Atlanta Prepares to be Overtaken By its Neighborhood Festival - Music Midtown

Music Midtown is Atlanta's very own neighborhood festival. Right in the middle of the heart of Midtown in Piedmont Park, this famed festival has taken Atlanta by storm the past three years after a six year hiatus.

Featuring past headliners like Coldplay, the Foo Fights, Pearl Jam, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the festival certainly deserves all the hype it receives. 2014's Music Midtown is just around the corner on September 19th and 20th and ATLiens are preparing to spend the weekend jamming out to some pretty rad performers.

With the release of the schedule on August 27th, there has been lots of talk as festival goers plan out who they will see play at certain times. One major controversy with this year's schedule is that both nights the two headliners will be playing at the same time. Despite all four headliners being in different genres, many of the festival goers still want the experience that comes with seeing all of them whether they enjoy the genre or not. On Friday night, John Mayer and Jack White will both play their sets at the same time, on two separate stages of a considerable distance from each other. The following night, Eminem will perform simultaneously with the Zach Brown Band. Not only are the headliners at the same time, but throughout the festival, performers overlap. Overlappers such as Iggy Azalea and Lorde are going to make it hard for fans to see a full show if they want to catch the other performer. It will be interesting to see how festival goers react during the actual festival to the schedule.

Another hot topic surrounding Music Midtown is the addition of Third Eye Blind to the lineup. A recent addition, this rock band is a classic amongst many of the festival goers. Being around since the early 1990s, their music sits in the hearts of grown professionals and college students alike. With this new addition, people might reconsider coming to Music Midtown. Since the option of day passes was not offered this year, many have opted out of attending the festival this year as they cannot make both days. However, Third Eye Blind might be the game changer.

Greg Allman fans are also pumped for the festival. Not only is Allman an all-time favorite, but there is hope that he will make a special appearance on stage with the Zach Brown Band.

Music Midtown is always a blast and the countdown is on for Atlanta’s favorite festival. Learn a lesson from last year, however, and make sure to check the weather before attending. Unpreparedness with weather like last year’s continuous rain can really put a damper on a person’s festival experience.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
