There may not seem to be a lot of correlations between bars and astronomical signs, but there definitely are and I have compiled this list with explanations. Maybe your sign matches your favorite place, maybe not. This is not based on anything scholarly, but it might be a fun read if you believe in signs and in bars in Tally. Here are astronomical signs as Tallahassee bars:



Aries (March 21-April 19) - Potbelly’s


Considered to be one of the strongest signs, Aries will definitely identify with Potbelly’s. A notable characteristic of this sign is that they take on any challenge that comes their way. For example, the holiday of St. Patrick’s Day falling during FSU’s Spring Break. This causes a huge problem: we will all be on vacation or at home March 17th for St. Patty’s Day, away from our favorite pub. The solution? Pots rescheduled their celebrations to March 4th. Brilliant and totally Aries.





Taurus (April 20-May 20) - The Standard


Known for their reliability, Standard and Taurus could not be more compatible. As a bar that is somehow full and facey every day of the week you choose or end up going to, Standard (or Derd for short) will never disappoint. A Taurus is known to stick to anything and Standard does just that. Whether it’s “their” night or not, they are sure to be packed and exciting. You will also need to reveal your Taurus attachment level when you go to Standard because it can be tempting to leave the full-to-capacity bar, but you know you always love it. Stick it out.



Gemini (May 21-June 20) - TENN


The most-known representation of Gemini is a two-faced double personality. TENN can be this type of place only because everyone tends to go to TENN after a long happy hour. That can be a tough mix to handle. It can be a continuation of the happy hour momentum or it can be a crash of a long day of school and being out to start the weekend by 4 P.M. Gemini and Tenn are really awesome though because they are both fast and adjustable. They switch the music up a lot here too so there’s a definite inconsistency that we learn to love. The charismatic TENN and Gemini personality are welcoming to all. Just be careful because it is hard to tell which face of TENN you will end up at. Fingers crossed for the good kind always.



Cancer (June 12-July 22) - The Strip


A Cancer and The Strip are both subject to their compassion and do not fear getting hurt. Cancers are known for being hard to get to know. They have a lot to offer but it is hard to see all of their sides. They are highly imaginative. I can’t help but think that The Strip is just like that. You know how there are all those doors and rooms and stairs. Are they playing different music in different places? There are all these names on doors and people coming and going. The fun of this is why I like both Cancer personalities and The Stip. They are like boxes of chocolate that you will never know that you are going to get.



Leo (July 23-August 22) - RokBar


Cheerful and creative are just the beginning of describing RokBar and the sign of Leo. RokBar had a color coordinated Valentine’s Day event. Does it get more creative than that? A Leo’s biggest weakness is that they are arrogant and stubborn. I can’t say that is really a weakness for this place because it just means they know that we have fun there so they keep asking us to come back. A Leo typically likes bright colors, just like RokBar. I know, they are a perfect match.



Virgo (August 23-September 22) - Coliseum


Coliseum, a Tallahassee classic, most definitely needs to be matched with the loyal and practical sign known as Virgo. Virgos are known to be all work and no play, however, we think Coli is all work and all play. The hardworking and always “lit” part of Coli make it totally Virgo. They are both into the details. The chair and lions and giant screen inside of Coliseum are classic details that we can always count on.





Libra (September 23-October 22) - El Patron


The Libra and El Patron share a common cooperative aspect: balance. El Patron is the perfect balance of food, margaritas, and dancing with Spanish music. You can get as crazy or stay as chill as you want at El Patron. I’m hoping you are trying to dance around to that Latin flare inspired by your yardstick of a drink.



Scorpio (October 23-November 21) - Clyde's

Scorpio is always known as a true friend and what bar is more of a true friend than Clydes? They are part of the BFFs of College Ave and Clyde's is always a great member of that team. It’s two stories play into their only real flaw which is that they can be secretive and untrusting. Nothing says untrusting like watching everyone from upstairs to make sure your next swoop isn't already swooping. But we love Clydes for this attention to avoiding being bamboozled. Clyde's is also so Scorpio when we realize how they have their very own day — Mandatory Makeout Monday (MMM) which shows the resourceful and braveness of a typical Scorpio.



Sagittarius (November 22-December 21) - Tabu


The generous Tabu, always doing interesting and idealistic things. The location and outside is very Sagittarius because they are known for their curiosity and energy. The exterior may show some kind of strip mall but inside there is a plethora of interesting sculptures and bars on all three sides, love that.



Capricorn (December 22-January 19) - 21V

21V might be the newest place to go out in Tally, but it is popping off most days of the week. Do the employees even sleep? They seem to be open all day, every day. The Capricorn-ness of Room 21V is that they are both uber-ambitious and forceful, right? Capricorns are also known for their determination and I think no other word could describe the 21V ginormous air condition and that they are open whenever the people want.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18) - Madison Social

Aquarius peeps are very attractive and frank. That is totally Mad-So. The food, drinks, and presentation of this awesome spot are so original and fun. An Aquarius is known for their dislike of being boring situations, so the excitement that comes from seeing your food come toward your table is very Aquarius.

Pieces (February 19-Marh 20th) - Recess

The compassionate Pisces is very much Recess. Recess is pretty cool because it has this indoor/outdoor thing. They took two seemingly boring days of the week — Tuesdays for FreeCess and now Sundays for day events, I think that is so very intuitive and Pisces style. Pisces are also notably into visuals and the aesthetic of Recess is super cool and I can't help but mention that Pisces is the fish sign and that pool makes Recess for sure the ideal Pisces location.
