I Asked A Bunch Of People When The The Moment They Knew They Loved Their Significant Other Was

With Valentine's Day being February 14th, I thought I would help people feel some of the love they're celebrating on Valentine's. So, I asked when they knew the loved the person they're with. I knew there would be a variety of answers and reasons. But love isn't the same for everyone.

For me, I think I truly understood the magnitude of my feelings when we started fighting and I knew that I would do everything in my power to repair my relationship because I couldn't see myself loving anyone else the way I love Dylan.

Some people had similar responses, some did not:

"I knew I loved my significant other when I could picture my future with him, not just the near future, but growing old with him. I knew then I loved him." -Female 22

"I knew I loved my significant other when we met when I was 13 and he waited 6 months to kiss me. I came with a LOT of baggage family wise and he just took it with open arms! That's when I knew." Female 21, Married

"Pretty much at the end of the first month of dating, on Halloween, I knew he loved me and knew I loved him. This was in October of 2015 so at the time I was 18." Female 21

"I knew I loved my significant other when I was going through some serious sh*t and the only one who was there for me unconditionally was him. I had never had someone care about me the way he does." Female 21

"A week into our relationship. Female 21"

"It was when I realized that she didn't care about money, what I drove or what I did for work, that she only cared about me, not about what I have." Male 19

"I always loved him but I guess I really knew it when I had to choose between him or my ex." Female 19

"I feel that this is such a complicated answer for me. I would not say it was "love" at first sight but when I saw him, I knew there was a connection. I believe I knew I loved him on our first date, we were playing tag and he tagged me. I laughed so hard, harder than I have in so long. It was nice to tell that story, sometimes you forget why you fell for someone." Female 21

"I knew I loved my husband when he told me that he had a dream about me when he was 16 years old and he never forgot my face because he knew one day he would meet me and I would be his wife. The day I walked into our place of employment he recognized me and told a co-worker about the dream. We've been married now for 22 years." Female 52

"I can't say there was ever really a moment I fell in love. However, the first time we met and hung out with each other I had a feeling I've never had before with someone I met right away. Feeling as if I've known them for a long time. It was the humor, friendliness, and respect we had for each other helped me build and realize I started to love her. It was her caring and kindness I was seeing towards my family and I which helped me know I really loved her." Male 36

"I believe it was our first date. We had been speaking via phone and text and by our first date we both knew that we wanted to be with each other for the rest of our lives." Male 44

"I knew within the third month of dating." Female 37

"I was friends with my current husband's late wife. She asked me to take care of her husband when she passed. I fell in love with him the following year and it took two years before we got married. We've been married 5 years but it feels like yesterday. I could not be any happier." Female 45

"I'm thinking after the wedding vows. When I realized we were now one, that God put us together, I knew I really loved her." Male

"First husband: When we held hands and walked up the street together. Second husband: how he listened to me and made me feel special despite his own sickness." Female 63

"I knew I loved her the moment I saw her." Male 22

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
