I Asked My Facebook Friends What 'Faith' Meant To Them, And The Results Left Me Speechless

Faith; something that has been around since the beginning of time, and is just as important now as it was 2,000 years ago. "Faith," according to Google's dictionary, means "complete trust or confidence in something or someone." However, faith has a different meaning to every single person. My personal meaning of faith is "knowing that when life isn't going your way, God is in control and He always will." Interested in what other people's meaning of faith is, I decided to ask my Facebook friends a simple question, "What does 'faith' mean to you?" The results that I got absolutely blew me away.

1. "Faith means that I believe in a higher power (God) and that he has prepared a place for me and others that believe in Him. Because of that faith, I know that I will be reunited with Him and my son for eternity. Without that faith what is the purpose of living?"

"You will lead the people, You have redeemed with Your faithful love; You will guide them to Your holy dwelling with Your strength" Exodus 15:13

2. "Believing in things that I "shouldn't" believe in to recklessly serve a God that "doesn't" exist that enables me to do things I "shouldn't" be able to do. Faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen."

"The Lord is slow to anger and rich in faithful love, forgiving wrongdoing and rebellion." Numbers 14:18

3. "My father in law says it in his sermons often “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”"

"Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exsits and rewards those who seek him."Hebrews 11:6

4. "Faith to me is completely and unconditionally believing in something or someone. Having Faith in God for me is easy. Having faith in people. Not so much! I think we sometimes put our full faith on the wrong thing or the wrong person! Faith for me is becoming harder and harder.

That's not really a definition but more a feeling. Maybe that's what faith really is to me."

"Love the Lord your God, obey him, and remail faithful to Him." Deuteronomy 30:20

5. "For me, it means taking God at His Word even when I can't "see" what He's up to."

"I give thanks to Christ Jesus who has given me strength because He considered me faithful ..." 1 Timothy 1:12

6. "Faith is believing in God and Jesus and believing that He will keep his promises, even if it isn't the way we pictured, recognizing that His plans are far better than we can ever ask for or imagine."

"The Rock-His work is perfect; all His ways are entirely just. A faithful God, without prejudice, He is righteous and true." Deuteronomy 32:4

7. "As Jesus taught in Luke 17:5-10, it is doing all that God commands, and then saying, "We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." This--obedience + humility--is what is the EVIDENCE of the things hoped for by the Christian."

"Instead, remain faithful to the Lord your God, as you have done to this day." Joshua 23:8

8. "Knowing 'it' will be done as 'it' is promised. Even if I can't see 'it'. Trusting because 'its' been proven every time."

"For it has been given to you on Christ's behalf not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him." Philipians 1:29

9. "Believing in something you don’t understand or can see. I have faith in my brakes. Lol!"

"He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness, for a man does not prevail by his own strength." 1 Samuel 2:9

10. "“Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to.” Faith is not an easy thing to possess, and it’s not an easy thing to hold on to. That’s why it’s so powerful. With Faith as little as a mustard seed, you can move mountains. Matthew 17:20."

"Above all, fear the Lord and worship Him faithfully with all your heart; consider the great things He has done for you." 1 Samuel 12:24

11. "Faith is whatever was, is, and whatever will be of God and absolutely believing this to be the Truth."

"'Because of your little faith,' He told them, 'For I assure you: If you have the faith of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20

12. "Trusting in our Lord and Savior in time of need!!! And everyday trials!!! He WILL see us through!"

"You gave me life and faithful love, and Your care has guarded my life." Job 10:12

13. "Trusting in the Lord above anything else and believing that He is sovereign and will take care of His children."

"But I have trusted in Your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance." Psalm 13:5

14. "Trusting in the Lord above anything else and believing that He is sovereign and will take care of His children."

"Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live." Psalm 23:6

It's so amazing to see how different other people's perspective of faith are. This was very humbling to me, and I hope you get just as much out of it as I did.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
