College students have a lot of stress and struggles during their 4 or more years in school but we continue to push ourselves to get that degree and walk across the stage with pride.

One of the main things keeping us together are our majors, the degree we spent 2 years completing all the prerequisites only to finally get in the classes that focuses solely on our major.

Along with that comes some things you also hate about your major. I can relate as an Asian Studies Major there are plenty of things I love and equally dislike about it but in the end, I wouldn't trade my major for anything.

There are good and bad things about each and every one of our majors so I gathered some friends and asked them to tell me about their specific majors.

Graphic Communications Major

Likes: Hands on, creative control, broad and various, so you can work multiple fields with this degree, pushes you to your limit, and therapeutic.

Dislikes: Each art professor has a different opinion, no matter how good you are. Time consuming, tedious at times, can be expensive.

Business Major

Likes: Networking, working with different people & teams.
Dislikes: Taking classes that doesn't directly apply to my specific major like accounting.

Electrical engineering Major

Likes: Major classes, loves the engineering major, and how hands on the work is.

DIslikes: Unnecessary prerequisites to insure that I am actually capable of doing upper level classes, the weed out process to keep the best of the best in the school and stress others out of the major.

Art Major

Likes: it absolutely pertains to my skills, and helps me strive to get better at my art. It also has classes that doesn't make you fall asleep.

Dislikes: Some art professors tend to be a bit of a total perfectionist. And in my opinion this can be a bit stressful for students.

Nursing Major

Likes: Anatomy and Psychology classes, knowing that this program is geared to help people, hands on action, and the people skills you gain.

Dislike: The competitiveness to get into the nursing program, you can get in with just over a 3.0 but because so many people are fighting to get in only those with 3.8 gpa and higher usually get picked, not accepting people because of their lack of academic skills.

Sociology Major

Likes: Good professors who are truly nice and helpful and the type of people you can go to for help and they will work with. Lots of interesting topics and enlightening discussions in classes.

Dislikes: Lots of heavy reading material/texts with the papers due on the same or next day, the articles are interesting but can get overwhelming when you have other classes, at times can be too demanding on students.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
