American candy and snacks are increasingly getting unhealthier and more modified as years go by. While searching for healthier options, stumbling upon Asian snacks and candy is one of the best things that have happened! They can be sometimes hard to discover, especially with most of the labels being in a different language. But here are some that are not only healthier, they are extremely tasty and worth the buy!
DIY candy, like Poppin’ Cookin’, are a great and fun alternative to the normal candy we eat on a day to day basis. It is a candy that when bought comes with a small plastic container, often a little plastic spoon, packets with powders and mixes and all that’s needed besides that, is a cup of water. The candy is essentially mixed and created by the person eating it! Not only do you get to make your own candy, you also get to eat a yummy treat that wasn’t just bought and consumed. However, if you are on the run and in need of a quick treat, this may not be the treat for you.
Pocky is a new and popular Asian candy that has arisen in the US. It is a biscuit stick that is pretty neutrally flavored, that is dipped in chocolate, whether that is chocolate, matcha tea, or strawberry flavored. You can also find it in Oreo and pretzel flavored. This is among one of my favorite candy that I’ve found and it’s easy, simple, and great for on the go eating.
Above is the snack for the more adventurous. They are Wasabi crackers with peanuts. These are definitely one of my top favorites. The spiciness is combated with the peanuts creating a well-flavored snack. Wasabi is very healthy for the body and often helps defend against oncoming diseases. It also helps with digestion, and ups your immune system and metabolism.
Koala Cookies are beyond cute. These adorable treats are cookies with little Koalas printed on them doing daily activities like painting, reading, singing, etc. Their little puffed up hard cookies with a filling that is either, from what I’ve seen, matcha tea, chocolate, or strawberry flavored. These are perfect for any ages!
The last yummy treat is Tao Kai Noe Crispy Seaweed. This is a personal favourite of mine! They are strips of seaweed that is covered in a semi-sweet wasabi powder. They are extremely fun to eat and are a melt-in-your-mouth treat. Personally, I like to take these to school and to work. They are perfect for an on the go snack. They are extremely healthy for you as well as there is little to no calories per serving.
Overall, Asian snacks and candy are taking a hold of Americans everywhere. They are healthier, yummier and also cheaper! Most candies and snacks range from $1.25-$4.00. With the rapid pace of them becoming more popular, it is good to have an article where you can read and learn what is what! It’s awfully overwhelming walking into a market that is not only in a different language, but is also adorned with all foreign foods! Hopefully this was an insightful article that encourages and pushes you to be adventurous and discover the Asian snack lover side of you.
