As Cliché As It Might Sound

It's true and happens

As cliché as this might sound—and it will—I can tell you that I met my ride or die, wife, future roomie, and best friend in my sorority. Yes, yes, every girl that is in a sorority says the same thing but is because is such a real thing. If you are in one you, you definitely understand. I love the girls in my house and they are the girls I hang out, probably 90% of the time. But, out of all those girls, I found one that is just like me…at least in most—almost all—things.

If you ever met us or saw us, the first thing you would notice is that we both have curly dark-brown hair with blond highlights, but let me tell you that, that is not the only thing we are alike on. I’m a very sarcastic, not emotional whatsoever, go with the flow, drama free type of person. What are the odds that I find someone like that? Apparently very high, because I did. The only difference is that I’m probably more sarcastic. As soon as we met, we clicked. Is like we are always in sync. Always roast each other. And, know exactly what the other one is thinking without having to say it. Her boy problems are mine and mine are hers, as well as any other problem for smallest or biggest it is. And, of course, if she doesn’t like you, I don’t like you, and the same applies the other way.

You know, in her I found the type of friend everyone needs in their life. Not need, but not distant. The one you FaceTime whenever you are going to tell her something because texting is too much work and a regular call is lame. The one that plans on going to visit you over the Summer. The one that no one is surprised, or already assumed when you say that you two are going to be roommates next year. The one that would not have emotions, but show love to each other. The one that never, neither you or her, ever charges the other when one pays because you know the other will eventually pay something else. Kayla is all of these and more.

Everyone needs to find a Kayla. I found mine in my sorority and I couldn’t be happier about it. Yes, is the most cliché thing used by every sorority girl in history, but it happens. Going through college would not be half as fun if I didn’t have her to do stupid things with or to make fun of.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
