While there is nothing wrong with listening to the top 100 hits on the radio, there are many more artists that are worthy of a good listen. These artists range from different genres and style but all have a similar goal, to entertain. Here are a couple of artists that you should give a listen to before you die. Who knows, they might become a new favorite.
Sia
Now while most people would know her amazing hits such as "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart," there are so many more songs written by Sia. She ranges from upbeat songs like "Clap Your Hands," to mellow songs, like "Breath Me," to emotional songs, like "The Girl You Lost to Cocaine." While I will admit to running around my house, pretending to be in the "Chandelier" video, her older music is just as amazing and highly underrated. People might also identify with her colabrorations with David Guetta, "Titanium" being the most famous but there is also "She Wolf," which is a pretty awesome! Sia is so much more than her recent music and everyone should go check out her older music.
St. Vincent
Now while St. Vincent is very odd to some people, her music is still something that people should pay attention to! Now, I have only started listening to St. Vincent but I can say that its pretty awesome. "Bring Me Your Loves" is currently making its way up my mosted played list on iTunes. St. Vincent has just released a new single called "Teenage Talk" which is amazing! Definitly an artist that I would like to hear on the radio more.
Young The Giant
Another artist that has recently apeared in my iTunes, Young The Giant seriously rocks. There first three singles alone where awesome enough to get attention from U.S. Top charts. "Cough Syrup," "My Body" and "Apartment" are all song worth a listen. However they have other songs like "Eros" which is still just enjoyable! This artist might be a little more main stream sounding than the other two on the list so far, but they still have cool meanings and interesting lyrics. Check out this artist if you like alternative music, or if you don't, maybe you will after listening.
Stromae
Stromae is a rapper from Belgium, but I truly believe that he shoud be more famous in the United States. His music is a mix of "take off clothing while you dance" and "wow this song could be a poem." For those who speak French, his music will probably make more sense. However, those of us English speakers can still appreciate his music if they just look up a translation. His songs like "Alors on Danse," "Carmen" and "Papaoutai" are classics that can be enjoyed by everyone. If deep lyrics and poetics aren't your thing? Try just listening to the music and dancing, its equally enjoyable with Stromae.
Seriously everyone -- listen to these artists and other artists that are not mainsteam. I could list many more, but that would take way to much time! Check these artists out and enjoy!
