Toronto-based artist/songwriter Jahkoy Palmer traded Toronto for Hollywood and has since gained some serious momentum in the music world. Named one of Billboard's "Artist's to Watch" in 2016, Jahkoy brings a unique artistry to his music with his genre-blurring creations composed of addictive lyrics, mid-level beats and sultry vocals. Complex describes Jahkoy as a "a smooth electro-R&B crooner with a full heart and a story to tell." His new, self-proclaimed "bipolar" sound has caught the attention of Apple Music's Zane Lowe and Pharell Williams who fueled support of his full-length album, "Temptations," being released this fall.
After his rebranding to Jahkoy in 2013 and move to LA, Jahkoy met producer Daniel D'artiste, known best for collaborating with Willow and Jaden Smith.
With hints of Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" and the ghostly undertones of The Weeknd's "The Hills," Jahkoy's latest song "Odd Future" has the evocative rhythm of Contemporary R&B mixed with his unique electronic-house touch and personal rapping signature. Produced by Wondagirl and Nova, "Odd Future" is a promising start to 2016 being premiered by Zane Lowe as a "World Exclusive" on Beats Radio 1. His other stand-out tracks "Hold Your Hand" and "Still In Love" released in 2015 through his label Bipolar Records are reminiscent of Justin Bieber's Purpose vocals with a more seductive R&B sound and deeply intimate lyrics.
Jahkoy's work with industry notables have helped his success in the music industry such as his collaboration song, "Nature," featuring the voices of Mecca Kalani and Willow Smith. He also collaborated to bring seven different reinterpretations of his new album's leading track "Still In Love" with reworks by nstrum, Vasta, Sailors, Bolier, NYMZ, Mickey Valen and Krs. & Masego for his "Still In Love Remix EP." Featured in VICE, Nylon, Billboard, Complex and Pitchfork, Jahkoy is making waves in Hollywood with his unique music considered to encompass a multitude of genres. Jahkoy is scheduled to perform at Firefly Music Festival this summer in Delaware with his first major LA show scheduled for Sept. 14.
Jahkoy's singles "Odd Future," "Hold Your Hand," "Still In Love" and "Poison" are available on iTunes as well as Spotify and SoundCloud.
