Artist Spotlight: The Millenium
The Millenium

I've spent a good amount of my time these past two years, attending local shows to support hardworking, talented bands. Within these past two years, there have been many bands that caught my eye, but none were quite like The Millenium. Their passion on and off stage was enough to reel me in, but their unique sound was what really hooked me. Each of The Millenium's songs takes you on a journey. It tells a story that you feel like you are apart of. Each song incorporates elements of indie, acoustic, and electronic styles into their music.

This Wisconsin based band is comprised of five guys; Kyle Culver, Kyle Featherstone, Matt Hasenmueller, Brandon Bruyette and Casey Sproatt. All five share the same passion, making music. The band began their career in 2014, making their presence known when they opened for bands such as The Summer Set and Now, Now in their hometown of Eau Claire, WI. Soon after those opportunities, the band released their EP "It's So Much Friendlier With Two," which helped land them five supporting tours and two headliners. Currently, the band is hard at work making their second record, which fans around the country are excited to hear.

This band's unique sound isn't the only thing that makes them stand out from the rest. Their appreciation for their fans was one of the key characteristics anyone could pick up on when they are in the same room as this band. Their love for their fans shines through when they are on and off stage. This summer, the boys set out to headline on The Sleepless Summer Tour. On this tour, they wanted to give back to the fans who support their musical careers. In order to do so, they decided to create a VIP experience that would give their fans an opportunity to hang out with the band. Every fan who purchased their tickets within the first week of sales was automatically upgraded to a VIP package. There was no ridiculous cost for a VIP ticket, it was the same price as everyone else paid. The VIP experience included early entrance to the show and a hang out session with them and the other bands that were on the tour, too.

I personally got to join in on this VIP experience and it was one that I will always remember. The boys welcomed us with open arms, made us feel at home and made sure to talk to every person who was at the VIP experience. This intimate setting gave fans a better look at the band off stage, and gave the fans a chance to sit around and talk with those whom they look up to. There will never be anything else like that VIP experience, and I am glad I got the chance to be a part of it.

From the passion they have for their music, to the passion they have for their fans, this band is truly one to keep an eye on. If you ever get the chance to see this band live, do it. You definitely won't regret it.

Make sure you check out The Millenium on Itunes.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
