Bunches of bananas on top of each other

One day, I accompanied my mother with her grocery shopping at the farmer's market. When we walked by the banana aisle, my mother asked me if I wanted to eat bananas. I told her no simply because I had been eating too many bananas lately. But my mother insisted on buying the bananas still. I demanded to know why she insisted on buying bananas so much. Then my mother told me an answer that I would never forget: "My friend Monica told me that bananas will be extinct soon."

To be honest, that was the most ridiculous and not to mention, the most absurd thing I have ever heard. My mother then explained to me that there was a disease affecting the bananas and someday, we might not see bananas anymore and we should cherish them as much as we can.

But the more I thought about it, maybe my mother was right. Bananas have played an important role in my life, in fact, in my diet. Here are three reasons why.

1. Bananas are rich in potassium

You've probably heard of this bunch of times but its rich source of potassium is often overlooked. Potassium is good for maintaining blood pressure and strengthening your bones. Not to mention, potassium helps you digest and prevents constipation. Whenever I eat cereal for breakfast, I will always eat it with a banana. In other words, I cut bananas into my bowl of cereal. And after breakfast, I would go to the bathroom to detox my body. That's what I call a good start of the day!

2. Bananas help you lose belly fat

If you're looking for a snack that can help you cut back on sugar and lose belly fat, then a banana is the one for you! Not only are bananas rich in potassium, but they are also a good source of prebiotic fiber as well! This helps boost your metabolism and therefore, it reduces belly fat! Just eating banana alone can reduce your appetite for junk food as well. If you're not looking for a huge meal to eat, a banana can easily fill you up!

3. Bananas are good for the heart

Believe it or not, bananas are extremely healthy for the heart! It keeps your heart beat at a regular rate. Thereby, it reduces the risk of stroke and heart attacks. It even risks your risk of having heart disease. This is all thanks to not only fiber and potassium found in bananas, but also thanks to hidden sources of Vitamin C and magnesium in bananas as well!

Don't ever think bananas for just for monkeys! Bananas are one of the healthiest foods you can find! Hurry and reach for a banana now, before they share the same fate as the dinosaurs!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
