I believe that April Ludgate is, without a doubt, the best part of NBC's "Parks and Recreation." She is the queen. Personally, I like to consider her my alter ego, but I also believe that at some level, we are all April Ludgate. She perfectly embodies the grumpy, world-hating side of each of us that can't help but show itself now and again. The amazing part: April rocks this mood all the time. It's inspiring. You can't deny at least part of you wants to be her. Here are some of the many moments when I realized that April was me, only better.
1. When she was over dramatic to just the right degree.
Because who doesn't secretly want everyone else to feel just as bad as you do?
2. When her crafting abilities were perfectly sub-par.
Crafts are a waste of time anyway.
3. When her judgmental opinion was stated as law.
April is just smarter than everyone else. Why shouldn't she let the people know?
4. When she perfectly described why animals are so lovable.
Before I thought it was just because they are cute. Now I understand the real reason I can spend hours trolling puppy pictures.
5. When she discovered the secret to life.
That truth bomb hit me right in the feels.
6. When she let everyone know how to get shit done.
Because pizza can and should be involved in every process.
7. When her priorities made the most sense.
If you can't beat 'em, don't you dare join those bitches.
8. When she reminded us of a fact that we all secretly agree with: prom is stupid.
Be totally honest, did you actually have the most magical night ever? Or did it feel more like you just spent a lot of money to get really stressed out about having the most magical night ever?
9. When she described how we all feel about growing up.
Resisting the acceptance of adulthood is half of life's purpose anyway.
10. When she created the most badass alter ego.
If my alter ego has an alter ego, does that make Janet my alter-er ego?
11. When she discovered the key to success.
If you don't feel like your life has led you to owe a massive thank you to alcohol, you are doing it wrong.
12. When she let her feelings show and it was amazingly underwhelming.
The absolutely most emotionally beautiful unemotional April moment of the show. Feeling are for losers.
13. When this happened.
Because she probably is.
14. When she gave this command.
Because this is a very self-aware moment for her: acknowledging her superiority over the peasants.
April, you are everything I wish I could be. Thank you for reminding me that pizza and puppies are what's really important and that I never have to actually leave my teenage angst phase. Stay weird, April.
