Pranksters, unite! This is the one day of the year where it’s completely justified to dump a bucket of water on somebody or put shaving cream in their hand while they’re asleep and tickle their nose. Some people push the extent of April Fool’s Day by dumping gooey slime on their girlfriend when she’s in a fancy dress or pushing someone down the stairs. I mean, whatever brings you pure satisfaction in other people’s mayhem, then have at it. But since most of us are at school, here’s some pranks you can pull on your roommate! And don’t worry, these pranks won’t end a friendship or make things awkward for the rest of the semester. But note that if friendships are ruined, you did not get these pranks from me and I’m sorry your roommate can’t handle a few pranks on April Fool’s Day. Enjoy!
1. Rearrange Their Clothes
Rearranging someone’s clothes can seriously throw off their day. Imagine waking up and you have a few minutes to get dressed and go to class and opening your drawers to find your whole life in pieces. Switching the socks with the shorts or shirts with shoes (try doing that), is a good clean prank that will leave your roommate confused, but also smiling when you say, “April Fools!”
2. Confetti Umbrella
If it happens to be raining of April 1, pour a ton of confetti into your roommate’s umbrella. Wait a minute or two to receive a confused text message then respond with, “April Fools!”
3. Sew What's Up?
Sew your roommate’s coat cuffs together so they can't get their hands through. Another version of this is to go through their pants drawer and sew the legs closed (if you use a sewing machine, this doesn't take too long!)
4. Shower Power
Turn the shower head so it will spray your roommate when they stand outside the shower and turn on the water. If you don’t get your roommate, your suite mate can suffice!
5. On Top of Confetti
More confetti for this next one! Place a paper cup filled with confetti on top of the door. Leave the door ajar and when your roommate walks through the door, the confetti will fall on their head!
6. A Face Full of Pranks
Warning: this one is messy (and might ruin a friendship). Serve your roommate a piece of cake or some ice cream. After they've eaten some of it, point to their food and say you see something in it. Once they bend their face down for a closer look, push their face into their food. Fingers crossed your roommate can laugh.
7. Water You Doing?
Tell your roommate you can pin a glass of water to the wall. Go up to said wall and prepare to pin the cup to the wall, but then drop the pin and ask your roommate to pick it up. When they bend over dump the water on them. Then shout, “April Fools” and start running.
8. Toothpaste Oreos
Everyone loves Oreos, but these ones are special. Remove the crème filling from each Oreo (you can just eat it if you want) and replace the filling with toothpaste. Offer some to your roommate who will most likely say, “Yes, thank you!” Who doesn’t love toothpaste Oreos? Probably not your roommate.
9. Band Together
This will be tedious and frustrating, but also laughable. Cover your roommate’s phone in copious amounts of rubber bands. Just smile as you watch them get one rubber band closer to freedom. Hint: a minimum of 35 rubber bands is a good start.
10. Time To Wrap It Up
Even if your roommate isn’t driving on April 1, they will have the same reaction when they see it. If your roommate doesn’t have a car, remember that if you have the time to read this article, you also have the time to saran wrap their bed. That’s always uncomfortable and frustrating!
11. Cage The Pranks
Nicholas Cage is a memorable actor to some people, but he can also be a memorable April Fool’s prank. Take Nick Cage’s wonderful face (Google will help you with this), and tape it to the back of the bathroom door. When your roommate sees Nick Cage’s face (which comes in many various expressions), you will hear laughter and maybe a “What the hell?!” statement.
