What exactly is "plus size"? Does anyone one really know? Or do we just let the fashion industry determine what it means? In the fashion industry, plus size is identified as sizes 12-24. The average size in the United States is size 12-14, so these numbers seem pretty average to me. In fact, they just seem like numbers. I do not understand why a label is needed and the need to label all sizes up from a certain size as "plus sizes."

This issue was recently brought to attention when Amy Schumer commented on being featured in Glamour magazine, where she was featured in the plus size section with Mellisa McCarthy, Adele, and Ashley Graham. She stated, "I think there's nothing wrong with being plus size. Beautiful healthy women. Plus size is considered size 16 in America. I go between a size 6 and an 8. @glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn't feel right to me. She also added that she does not want "young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size? What are your thoughts? Mine are not cool glamour not glamorous." Schumer received a lot of heat for her statement, with people saying that there is a problem with her saying in such an offended manner that she is not plus size.

However, Amy Schumer does have a point - the photo edition of the magazine was clearly for plus sized women. Schumer is only a size 6-8, so calling her plus size is mislabeling her and the majority of women and young girls as plus size. Plus size, no matter what fashion magazines claim, is in fact size 16 and up in the United States. Schumer’s outcry regarding this matter is because she does not want a generation of young girls thinking that they are not normal, that they are given the label plus size even though they are perfectly fine no matter their size.

Now that they have to provide inclusivity to retain their customer base, they are haphazardly trying to provide inclusivity, with little success, and not appealing. Instead of adding more sizes for the average American woman who is size 12-14, they try to segregate women into a whole different category without the same quality, attractiveness, and style of the product that they are well known for. The fashion industry needs to hear the voices of women in America and have a serious discussion about providing inclusivity for all women.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
