Once you hit the upperclassmen status, the real world feels a heck of a lot closer, and there are millions of things that you need to do. Whether you know how to go about doing all those things is another story. Nowadays, getting internships is basically expected and it's a lot easier said than done. There are lots of things that go through your mind as you are applying, and some of them make you seem like an insane person who should never get a job. But good news for you, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia perfectly explains this grueling process.
1. Everyone keeps asking what you are doing this summer or after graduation and it's the most stressful thing in the entire world.
2. When you first start your search there are millions that seem so interesting. Working at Google? Sure. Helping out on movie sets in Hollywood? Yup, sign me up.
3. You start saving a bunch of the cool applications saved on your desktop. Although, you plan on getting back to them later because trying to write a cover letter seems a little too hard right now.
4. As you make your resume, you start to worry that you have absolutely no accomplishments. You begin to get mad at future companies that tell you that you aren't qualified enough for their internship because obviously you are the most amazing, funny and charming person you have ever met.
5. Once the resume is finished, you set aside a day that you are going to be "productive" and apply to a bunch of places. You will not leave your computer until you have a possible future and there is no shame in the things you do in order to stay focused.
6. You apply to a few and then all the sudden you get a face-to-face interview with a company. You get dressed up and wonder if people can tell you have never worn business professional clothes before.
7. But you give yourself a pep talk and remind yourself that the interview is all about how you come off.
8. You figure that the questions for this first round will be simple. It will be stuff you can breeze through, right? It won't be until they offer you a second interview that they could ever get into the intense stuff.
9. But then they start asking you serious questions that you aren't sure how to answer...things get pretty scary.
10. Then you finally get through the interview and they ask you if you have any questions. You should have questions, right? Why didn't you plan a few questions?!
11. You leave assuming that you will never get a job and that this whole process was a huge waste of your time. But then you tell yourself that it will be okay. This one was just a learning experience, right?
12. A miracle happens, you get called back. They want to offer you a position. You are the amazing, smart, hilarious, charming person you always knew you were and here is the proof.
