To The Fraternity That Helped Me Through College

I can't believe little ole Penn State Altoona would have brought some of the greatest guys I can call my best friends.

Going to college was not an easy thing for me. I started my college life in my dorm all the time unless I was in class. When I finally decided to try out for the cheer team, I found some of my best friends. Not long after that, we were invited to hang out with the brothers of Alpha Phi Delta (APD), where I met some of the nicest and most genuine guys. After we hung out with them, and I got close to them, I found myself talking to them and hanging out with them almost every night.

When days went to hell and classes just got harder, I always went to them for encouragement and to get things off my mind. The brothers of APD are so caring, they will do anything and everything to make their friends feel safe and loved. Having the days that I felt so low and having them do nothing but make me laugh and smile— I will truly cherish that forever.

I am forever thankful for you, APD brothers.

Thank you for all of the fun nights that got me out of my shell. Thank you so much for helping me find some of my forever friends. Y'all are the greatest guys that I could have gotten to know. You all have opened the doors and welcomed me in so many ways. Meeting you guys is one of the greatest things that could have happened to me. From the moment y'all threw the surprise birthday party for me (without knowing me) to the time I was punched at our Waka Flocka concert and you guys defending me, I will forever hold y'all close to my heart.

The memories that were made will be ones that I will forever cherish. You brothers really show the true meaning of family. A lot of people hear fraternities and think negatively, but they obviously haven't experienced or met the people that are in one. With being around the Greek life environment with you guys, it was just another reason why I decided to join Greek Life.

Penn State Altoona's Alpha Phi Delta, thank you so much for being such a positive impact on my life. You will always be one of the reasons I look at life from such a different perspective.

I can't believe little ole Penn State Altoona would have brought some of the greatest guys I can call my best friends.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
