Will You Answer The Call?

You know it's crazy the things that God can do in your life over such a short span of time. He takes who you are and where you are in your life and he uses it to create this beautiful picture. And that picture is your life.

In life we all have this big picture, and that picture represents this amazing journey we are on, and WARNING: this journey will not always be easy! You will hit bumps, you will have highs, anticipations, and expectations. But what you have to remember is that to make your journeys worthwhile you must have trust and faith in our guide. That He will fearlessly lead us on our journeys if we put all in His hands, allow Him to take us and form us and mold us into what He wants us to be. We are His creation made in His image, and we can choose to let him take the brush and take us and guide us on our journey or we can take control. In the end, His wishes and hope for us can also become ours too. He has called us saying "Follow Me" and we are to follow him not knowing the future or what is to come, just to follow him in faith and trust at his calling.

When we make that choice to follow Him, little do we know, we are embarking on a life-changing adventure. You'll have to step outside of your comfort zone, push your limits and face challenges that will test you to the max and it will change who you are, you'll never be the same again. Our Guide provides all of our needs along the way, He shows us the way, he places people along our path to help us. We don't have to do it alone. We just have to prepare ourselves to be ready and willing when He calls us to follow wherever He leads us without question or hesitation.

Okay so, "How do I know when he calls for me? When will I know?"

Trust me, you'll know when he calls you. God works in mysterious ways and when you hear him call your name, it's an indescribable feeling. And it's overwhelming and just entirely impossible to wrap your brain around it because our God is that awesome! We are limited but he is limitless and as humans, we are limited to understanding all that He is doing or has done or is working on in our lives.

"You may not know what I am doing now but someday you will."

John 13:7

God is going to do things in our lives that we just don't understand, but the awesome thing is we don't need to understand. All we need to do is trust him. Because all God wants is to show us the extent of his grace and love, and how he wants to mix in with us and be a part of our lives, our picture! If we will let Him, He will weave for us a beautiful story of grace. This relationship, this journey with Christ is two way. For him to provide for us on our journey, we have to allow him to give us redemption. He wants to wash us clean and make us new so that we can spread that love that he gives us with everyone around us. But even with redemption, we will still walk in on a world tainted by hate, lust, despair, fear all things that are in opposition to Him, to his divinity. But staying strong in our faith and continuing the good fight.

You may not know your calling, you may be in a place in your life where you don't know what God is doing or why he is doing what he is, but He has everything under control and he has a plan and a purpose for you, for your future.

Sometimes all there is to do is just sit and listen in the silence and get in tune with Him and allow the Holy Spirit to thrive on you. And if you continue to be obedient to Him, trusting Him, He will completely blow your mind! And it's overwhelming and amazing how, when we put our trust in him, the things He will do in and with our lives and the only explanation is Love. And you won't understand it, he may completely blindside you, but know that whatever it is he is creating something amazing

"I lean not on my own understanding, my life is in the hands of the maker of heaven. I give it all to you God, trusting you'll make something beautiful out of me..."

Proverbs 3:5

And that's the thing, He is making something beautiful. And once you experience this calling, you'll never be the same.

So what next? When he calls me where do I go? What do I do?

You take that step of faith, and put all your trust in Him. In ministry, as leader and follower of Christ...You are not called to a position, a place, a livelihood, a category, or a title. You are called to Jesus! And guess what. You don’t have to have all the answers because He does! In scripture (Matt. 4:18-20, John 1:43, Mark 2:14) Jesus doesn’t sit down with any of them and discuss the perks and drawbacks of joining His team or give them a detailed itinerary of what they’ll be doing for the next few years. He doesn’t call them to a task or to a position, but to Himself with just two simple words, “Follow me.”

So the real question is...when God calls you..are you going to accept the call and take that step of faith? Are you going to put all your trust in Him? Or are you just going to ignore the call?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
