The new "Pokemon" trailer for the game that will be coming out November 18 of this year came out June 2, 2016. The first trailer that showed the starter Pokemon for “Sun and Moon," which came out in early May, and everyone had to choose their starter. But what about this new trailer? What is exciting about this new trailer? Are Pokemon trainers only getting more excited or are we just confused? There were a couple of reveals that had, me at least, a little confused. But first, what we already know from the previous trailer.
The other trailer showed the world the new starter Pokemon, Litten, Rowlet, and Popplio. Litten is a fire type Pokemon that looks like you guessed it, a kitten. A cute little adorable black and red kitten with some grumpy cat-esque features. Rowlet is a flying and grass type Pokemon and he is the best dressed owl Pokemon. He has a little green bow to make this little Pokemon even cuter. Last is Popplio, he is the water type Pokemon. He is a blue seal with a circus ruffle around his neck and a little pink ball nose. Only their first evolutions were revealed leaving everyone wondering what their evolutions would be.
We also get a glimpse of what the Alola region looks like. It is pretty obvious that Nintendo was going for a Hawaiian themed map this time around. The routes the Pokemon trainers will walk on are lined with palm trees and stones with faces engraved on them. Think tiki. There are a few people that you see in this trailer but you only get one name Kukui. He is the Professor for this game. There are two other people that you are shown and we can guess that they will likely be your friends in the game.
Now the new “Sun and Moon” trailer gives even more insight to Alola, Kukui, and the legendary Pokemon. The two legendary Pokemon that are on the covers of “Sun and Moon” are given names and demonstrate their attacks. The lion looking Pokemon on the “Pokemon Sun” cover is named Solgaleo. He is a psychic and steel type Pokemon and his special attack is called Sunsteel Strike. It looks like a gigantic fire blast. That is why there has been some confusion from this trailer. Plus Solgaleo is the “Pokemon Sun”’s legendary Pokemon; shouldn’t there be something with fire? But alas, he is psychic and steel. He is still looking bad-ass, especially with his special ability, Full Metal Body. The other legendary Pokemon on the “Pokemon Moon” is a majestic bat named Lunala. To no surprise, Lunala is a psychic and ghost type Pokemon with special ability, Shadow Shield. In the trailer, Lunala uses Moongeist Beam against a Gengar, so it is safe to say that it is a psychic type attack because that Gengar had an appointment with Nurse Joy soon after that attack. These are some epic legendaries.
Besides finding out the names of our legendaries, we see the trainers that you can choose from to represent yourselves on this new "Pokemon" journey. You get to choose from eight different characters, four boys and four girls. Each character has the same style but they have different hair color and skin color. We also see the Pokemon trainer’s friends. Hau is your new friend in Alola and looks excited to help you become a Pokemon Master. Then there is a meek, fair-skinned, platinum blonde girl Lillie, who is introduced as Kukui’s mysterious assistant. These two look like they will be great new additions to the companion group from Pokemon. The last reveal was that there will be a Rotom in your Pokedex. When I saw that, I was confused. Why is Rotom in my Pokedex? I kinda liked my Pokedex the way it was. Oh well, I will get used to it though. These new Pokedexes are getting weirder and weirder. Remember the first Pokedex? It was simple.
These two trailers have rattled up fans and made them wanting more information about the “Pokemon Sun and Moon”. Hopefully, as we get closer to November, Nintendo will put out more trailers and we hopefully will get to see the evolutions of the starter Pokemon. I know everyone has already picked their favorites (mine is Litten), but aren’t we all curious about what they will look like in the other two evolutions? We are just going to wait and see. So get your Pokedexs ready, turn your hat around, and be ready to battle!
