An Open Letter To A Lonely Heart

There are so many people out there just like you… Struggling to fit in, struggling to love themselves, struggling to get over someone.

An Open Letter To A Lonely Heart
Leonie Dawson

We all struggle from time to time. We get hurt and try to pretend the pain doesn’t exist.

So this is for you…

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Many people are fighting to stay happy and content with their lives. There are so many people out there just like you… Struggling to fit in, struggling to love themselves, struggling to get over someone. You might feel like no one understands your pain and that no one gets it, but I bet there is someone out there who understands. They understand the pressure of looking like the rest of the world. They understand the pressure of trying to be approved by everyone else. They understand the hurt when you feel like you aren’t enough in anyway.

And because of that, our society sucks… A lot. We are so quick to judge. We judge people by their skin tone, or their piercings and tattoos, or their shape, or by the clothes they wear. But who are we judge them? Are we the Creator of the world? Are they made in our image? No. We are all “imago dei” —in the image of God. God is the creator and the only one who is able to judge us all. We have no right and no room to judge someone else. We are all the same underneath, sinners who need a Savior. So, when you feel like you don’t belong in this world, think again. When people judge you for who you are, then look up. They aren’t God, so their opinions DO NOT matter.

So with that being said, happiness is a condition, not a destination. If you think that happiness is a destination, take a step back. We FEEL happiness, we can’t GO to happiness. If you WANT happiness, then look to God. He satisfies the souls that long for happiness and clarity. He brings joy to the hurting and broken who feel like they and their life is a mess. He takes the people in the lowest valleys and uses them for his glory. So just because you struggle and you feel like a mess, don’t think that God can’t use you. He can do amazing things through you.

And finally, love is beautiful and the right person at the right time with the right heart will be worth the wait, you just need to let God be in control. I know heartbreaks suck, but God is the only one who will place your heart back together and heal you from the inside out. He will take your broken heart and make it new. He will take your heartache and use it for your good. He doesn’t give you hard times to hurt you, instead he gives them to help you. Life is going to be tough no matter who you are, but you have a God who is tougher. You have a God who is greater than the pain and sorrow you feel. You have a God who is unstoppable. You have a God who LOVES YOU.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
