What Happened At E3 This Year

E3 is a time for game developers to come together and shove their achievements in each other's faces.

What Happened At E3 This Year

E3, Electronic Entertainment Exposition, is a convention where video game companies come and showcase their newest video games and consoles. The convention takes place every year in the early summer and, until recently, it was open to the public. This year, E3 wrapped up leaving many unaltered. This is the first in a series of games that I’m both excited for and hesitant about.

“E3 season,” as this time has been dubbed, has a reputation of having leaks from developers and this year was no different. The first major leak came from video game developer Bungie for their game "Destiny." The leak was a picture of the next major expansion for the game, “Rise of Iron." While Bungie and Destinycommunity manager, Deej handled the leak pretty well, with a stream announcing the full expansion with a tentative release date. It didn’t stop there. “Rise of Iron” is now for preorder on the Playstation and Xbox stores. It will only be released on PS4 and Xbox One, leaving the PS3 and Xbox 360 to fall behind.

"Injustice 2" was announced prior to E3 with a surprise trailer that just looks amazing. The first "Injustice" game was amazing to play. Imagine "Mortal Kombat" but with only DC super heroes using their full range of powers, then you get roughly what "Injustice"was like. With its destructible and usable environments, "Injustice" came out right at the precipice of the PS4 and Xbox One. The announcement trailer for "Injustice 2" features well known characters: Supergirl, Superman, Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd, as well as "Tournament Mode," "Story Mode" and an updated gear system. I’m excited for this as much as I’m excited for the "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remaster."

"Skyrim" has been rumored for years to get an HD remake. It was released in November of 2011 and before them "Oblivion" was released in 2006. So following the five year rule, "Skyrim Remastered" should have been expected to be announced this year, and it will be released later this year, probably around October or November. These are tentative dates because you never know with a game’s release date. Take "No Man's Sky," for a relevant example: it has been pushed back for release several times, though it is a completely ambitious game, but that’s a story for another article.

Not a complete surprise, but not a complete bump on the log either: "Watch Dogs," at its core, is a game about hacking and being a vigilante. While the first "Watch Dogs"was a good game, I didn’t enjoy the story. The story was good, just not what lived up to the hype of it. The trailer for "Watch Dogs 2," however, looks like it will be an amazing game. It plays more on the humorous side of the world and, graphically, looks beautiful.

I’ve been excited for "Scalebound" since E3 2015. I’m a sucker for any games that have anything to do with dragons. Examples include "Dragon Age: Inquisition," "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," "Spyro the Dragon," among several books, movies and television shows. "Scalebound," from recent gameplay footage, allows you to play as a character that has a connection with a dragon. You use a sword as a weapon and use magic abilities to give yourself “dragon-skin,” a type of armor that is nearly impenetrable. It looks graphically amazing and is being developed by Platinum Games, who in previous games focused more on action than graphics.

This year’s E3 had many, many announcements that I’m sure everyone will be both disappointed and excited for. There have been so many games announced that I just had to break it up into different articles. Let me tell you, this year was full of ups, downs and lots of sick burns and horrible puns.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
