Thousands of years,
Thousands of lives and thousands of dreams.
Thousands who have lived and died,
Pushing toward the future,
Building, dreaming, hoping,
That tomorrow will be better,
That tomorrow we find the answers.
Families built,
And families broken.
Generations come,
Generations passed.
For what purpose?
Thousands of dreams,
Passed from father to daughter,
Mother to son.
New life,
New hopes
All pushing toward the future,
Each carrying the burden of the last,
Each carrying the hope for the future.
A lit torch,
Renewed with new life,
With each torch extinguished,
Many are lit,
They spread,
Grown,
And begin to light new torches of their own.
The flame passed,
Is the flame renewed.
And after thousands of years,
It ends with you.
So now the choice falls to us,
To sit quietly in the dark,
Or, with torches held high,
March into the night.
