An Open Letter To Whoever Is In Charge Of The Rutgers University Bus System

It shouldn't be that difficult.

I'm currently a student at Rutgers University and being a commuting student means that every minute counts. With my commute being a total of two hours, I have to time everything perfectly. If there's traffic, my time is thrown off. If I don't get there and the bus doesn't come for another 15 minutes, I could possibly be late to class. And I'm not here to complain about that because it's my job to get there on time and I actually don't normally have too much of a problem getting there on time. HOWEVER, I am here to complain about the lack of buses that are available for the students. Being that there is almost a total of 50,000 students, you would think that we would have a ton of buses taking us to and from the campuses that we need to go to... but there's really not enough.

What really aggravates me is that because there are so little buses available to students... students actually have to get aggressive in order to get on the bus they need in order to get to class on time. So aggressive that I got elbowed in the face by another student who wanted to get in front of me to get on the bus... and I'm sure that I am not the only student to experience another student getting physical with another student to make sure they get a spot on the bus. It's not okay and students shouldn't have to feel that much pressure because there are not enough buses.

I may be wrong but I believe that there are only about 3-5 LX buses that are available to us. Although that may seem like a decent amount of buses, our school is highly populated. And being that is the most popular bus in the entire school... it makes it extremely difficult for us students to be able to get a spot on it. I think that if we were to get at least one or two more buses, it would help us students a lot and it would provide us a much safer environment because people won't feel like they have to get so aggressive due to the lack of buses that are available.

With almost 50,000 students with a tuition rate of being about $14,000 a year and higher (it's only that low for me because I commute)... I think that the school could definitely afford to pay for an extra bus. I don't want to come off as rude but after hearing so many students complain about sending in recommendations for a new bus and not getting any replies, I hope this gains your attention and really puts it into consideration.

Sincerely,

A student who got elbowed in the face because there aren't enough buses

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
