To the one with body image issues,

I know you hate your body and I know you won't believe this, but I'm going to say it anyway because it's the truth...

You are beautiful.

Don't ever let society trick you into believing otherwise.

Society has it's unrealistic standards of beauty, something strict and even unattainable. Don't let society brainwash you.

There isn't just one type or mold of what beautiful is. Everyone is beautiful in different ways. Everyone is unique.

Yet everyone struggles with this. Whether they're a male, female, thick, or thin, everyone has issues with how they look. This is not okay.

This is saddening.

Usually people focus on girls having body issues when males also have issues with their bodies and standards that society sets out for them that they try to attain. Yes, girls do have it tougher when it comes to body image, but this problem is not only limited to females and you guys out there are not forgotten when it comes to this topic. And usually people forget about this, but not in this article: this article is for both the females and males out there struggling with loving the body they were born with.

All of you are beautiful.

And all of you need to learn to love your body.

Yes, your body does not define who you are as a person, but loving your body will completely change your attitude towards life and will boost your self confidence. It will completely change you and make you a happier person.

Everyone struggles with their body.

People tend to have this misconception that only people who are overweight struggle with body image issues, but this is not true. This also applies to people who are skinny. People who are skinny still look to that image that society pushes on us, the image of what "true beauty" is. And that image constantly changes as trends fade and form. The current idea of beauty is thin (in shape), but having curves as well. Aka flat stomach, big breasts, and a big butt for girls--and Zac Efron abs and muscles for guys.

So, basically, us skinny people might be thin, but if we aren't also curvy or have muscles? Well, I guess we're out of luck then. According to society, anyways. And then let's not forget the typical "you're too thin, eat a hamburger" remarks that are thrown at us as people think us skinny people starve ourselves, when this couldn't be farther from the truth.

What should happen is this:

People shouldn't look at others and judge the way you or I look. People also need to work on the way they view beauty, which is burned into our minds by society. All of us need to rid ourselves of this idea of what beauty by society is. Once we all do that, everyone will be happier with others and more important, happier with themselves and their bodies.

You are beautiful.

No matter what shape, size, height... Whether you have a certain hair type or style... Whether you have light skin or dark skin...

Everyone is beautiful.

You are beautiful.

Don't let anyone fool you into believing otherwise.

Don't let society brainwash you into believing you aren't good enough or that someone else is more beautiful because they look more like the ideal of society.

I know this isn't a simple feat. But you can do it.

And you're not alone. You're surrounded by people who also have issues with how they look.

All you need to do is change how you view beauty and how you view yourself.
This will not be easy.

You need to surround yourself by people who will uplift and push you to accomplish this.

You need to motivate yourself.

You need to need to learn to accept yourself and how you look.

You need to love yourself. And that includes the body you were given.

And you need to remind yourself that you are beautiful.

You are beautiful.

All of you.

Never forget that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
