She Knows

You are at that moment in your life where there is nothing but change. New school, new home, new friends, maybe even a new you. You attend college for the first couple of weeks and its completely different from high school. More freedom and responsibilities. You don't have to ask permission to go out on Friday night, you just go. There is no more curfew, you make your own. There is no one telling you when and when not to do something. It is all up to you so you better not mess this up.

You are used to going to church every Sunday morning. Now you have the full responsibility of getting up and going on your own. I do hope you continue to go. Just because you are now in college does not give you an excuse to stop going to church. Just because you are in college does not mean you lose your faith. College is not an excuse for that.

You will meet many new people. Some people could potentially be a bad influence on you, others could be the rocks in your life. It could be hard to say no sometimes. You may want to take that drink, smoke that blunt, or even go to that party. But in the end you have to ask yourself is that truly worth it? You may want to hang out with that cute boy instead of hitting the books and studying for that exam that you have yet to study for. Your life will be filled with lots of peer pressure, but you should never lose sight of who you truly are as a Christian. It is important to pray to God and ask Him to guide you through all the trials and tribulations that will bestow upon you. He will guide you along this scary path, but you will make it. Finding friends who have the same morals and values as you is so important. They will walk through life with you and you can all beat the peer pressures together.

Finding that right group of friends is hard. You have to keep searching and you will find those group of people. There are Christian organizations at pretty much every college. It is so important you go to those. Homework and studying could easily stop you. No matter how much work and how busy you are, Christ should always come first. You will get the work done, I promise you.

I find that giving all my worries to God makes me way less stressed out. God wants you to give Him all of your problems. Give it all to God and He will take care of the rest for you. I know it seems so hard to give all of your problems to Him, but it is easy. He will take care of you and help guide you through each problem. You have to keep praying to Him and He will give you what your heart desires. Putting him first has to be your number one priority. Forget the homework, forget that paper you waited the last minute to do and forget that project you have no idea when that is due. Open your Bible, or meet up with some friends and have a devotional together. You will discover that all that school work you had to do won't be as stressful anymore. You need to keep telling yourself that you will get it done.

Being a Christian in college is not easy. It is very hard. You are faced with so many temptations and lots of change. Your faith will be tested and you come to learn who you really are as person. As long as your remember that God is in control and He will give you what your heart desires and continue to pray and spend time in His Word, than I think you will do just fine.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
