An open letter to the one who never left,

Duh this is about you.

I used to wonder if friendships like in the movies actually existed, where you have one best friend; someone you do anything and everything with. A confidant to tell all your secrets to, who is there through the good times and the bad. A partner in crime who feels your heart break just as strongly as you, who treats your successes as their own, as well as your failures. I’ve learned through my friendship with you, everyone has someone. And you, you’re my person.

You have been there, through numerous hardships as well as thousands of laughs. From that time you fell down a rock into a waterfall and we laughed so hard that we both fell again; to holding my hand through the toughest two years of my life. You never fail to tell me how much I deserve, what I shouldn’t put up with (even though I do) and also call me out on all my bad decisions. To have someone who is just there, through everything, who is always ALWAYS only a phone call away, is the best gift god could give.

You helped me through so much from girl drama to guys who couldn’t take a hint. You helped me through the exhausting process of college applications and the realization of heartbreak. All of this is an irreplaceable gift, for which I could never repay.

We were attached at the hip, always together and everyone knew it. There was no me without you and no you without me. People even told us we acted exactly like eachother, that we were so similar it was almost unbelievable. We even got to the point where we finished eachother’s sentences and could communicate through facial expressions, it doesn’t get much closer than that. But this all changed when suddenly my best friend was about to be 240 miles away from me for nine out of the twelve months in a year.

This wasn’t always easy as you were no longer a seven-minute drive away at basically all times. However, we somehow managed to stay just as close as we were when you were home, you were and are my forever friend.

As of now, we are both on an incredible journey to discover who we are, and I am so happy to have always been along for this journey. Seeing what you are doing with your life, having the determination I have always envied; you are going places in life; never let anyone tell you otherwise.

As much as we may not keep in touch everyday as we used to, I still know you are there when I need you, as I always will be for you too.

So thank you for the endless laughs, morning car rides to school, dunkin runs, mall trips, outdoor adventures, softball or tennis days, roadtrips, facetimes, sleepovers and memories. You have shown me the meaning of true friendship for the past 6 years and I couldn’t be more grateful for someone like you in my life.

So to my forever friend, if you’ll have me, here’s to many more years of our crazy adventures.

You and me together, take on the world forever.

xoxo

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
