Why it's OK to be different in college

So just before going to college you've heard that you will make and learn from your many mistakes such as illegal drinking on thirsty Thursdays, finding a cure from a hangover, accidentally doing a one night stand and waking up in a guy's dorm bedroom, sleeping in too late, staying out past 12 a.m., or anything along those lines. But in high school apparently the "cool kids" would stay out too late, or sneak out of the house to hang out with friends. However that was never ever you, in fact you loved staying in. You were never considered yourself a typical teenager or right now a college student.

Being a not so regular college student you never really understood why staying out so late was a fun thing to do, what the thrill it gave others. Why college students loved drinking so much that they couldn't function the next day. The reason why sleeping with people you never knew was a "sexy" or a rebellious act. Staying out late past 12, what was there to do since the library was closed. All of these questions would always run through your mind because honestly you never gave two craps about it. You weren't someone who was interested in those types of courageous acts that others planed or talked about the next day. In fact, you loved staying in your cozy dorm after 9 watching your favorite Netflix series and eating pizza, and if you wanted to go a little crazy you had a coke too. Alcohol never seemed to be your eye candy and you certainly never felt like you needed to try it either. You had your so called "thirsty Thursdays" spent by yourself and calling it a night at 10:30 p.m. You never needed to be out past later than 12 a.m., forget about the parties even those were never your kind of thing. Your maybe introverted lifestyle of not giving two craps about what was happening late on camps. Eventually you would catch up on what your friends were up to last night on snapchat.

However, who cares that you don't exactly care for doing what college students are known for. Who cares that you'd rather had a water or maybe a soda instead of a beer or champaign. Who cares that your friends may not remember what happened last night. Because what does matter the most, is you being you. Just because you'd rather stay in than party all night, doesn't mean your abnormal is essentially means your different. Different is cool, stop trying to fit into the college crowd because odds are you are not alone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
