So many emotions are going through my head after hearing about the brutal and sadistic attacks done on Temple students this past Friday night- anger, sadness, confusion, and honestly... pity. Not pity for those who were attacked in this past Fridays incident (or many other nights at Temple), but pity for those sad and pathetic souls attacking them.
I am angry.
I ask myself... What could cause someone to do something like this....Beat people senseless.... often times outnumbering them.. stealing whatever they can, and doing whatever harm they can do? Is it jealousy..? Is it because we go to a prestigious university and you're not getting an education? Or maybe you are getting an education and hating it? I cannot imagine why someone would brutally attack someone else, and actually enjoy it.
My heart goes out to all of the innocent students that were attacked, beaten, robbed, and targeted for absolutely no reason. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it could have happened to literally any one of us.
My first thought is that I truly hope all of the evil shits that brutally beat up these male and female students would live horrible, deadbeat lives- as if they aren't already- but a part of me pauses...
What they are doing, they're doing because they are lost.
NO ONE with any sense of direction or purpose in life would spend their days sadistically beating up young college students that are most likely the same age as them.
So what is the real root of this issue? Where is this systemic hate and violence coming from? I would give my own opinions, but here is the thing. I don't care anymore. I don't care if its from bad parenting, no parenting, bad influencing of friends/community, stupidity, or lack of direction, but it needs to stop. Someone needs to help these lost children.
So here is what I have to say to you.
I have compassion for those who went through the beatings, but I don't feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for you. These students will recover- with the support of their friends, family, community, and university- they will continue to receive an awesome education, and go take on the world and become stronger from this. They will thrive in life and appreciate the fact that they are alive on this Earth still. But you, you will continue to be violent for the rest of your life if you do not make a change. Change your friends, change your environment, change your mindset, do whatever you need to do, but change what you've done and get a sense of direction because no one is going to do it for you.
If you can't help make Philadelphia the "City of Brotherly Love", then get out. Seriously. This isn't "your city", this city is for those who actually take care of it, love it, and contribute to it positively.
