Dear high school graduates,
First, I'll just start off by saying, congratulations! You are done with high school and you are starting a new chapter in your life.
Looking back, I remember when I graduated high school. Which is still so weird to say, because I graduated from high school three years ago. So get ready to start saying, "When I was in high school..." to your family and friends in a few weeks. There are so many things that I know are rushing through your head right now; trust me, I have been there. You are wondering what you should wear, remembering to breathe when you walk across that big stage to get your diploma, and of course, the biggest one of all, trying not to trip when you do receive that diploma!
Now that you have finally gotten that sweet diploma in your hands, it's time to turn the tassel and walk out of that arena as an incoming freshman in college. You are no longer just a silly high schooler that doesn't know anything about the real world. I am here to tell you, don't regret living at home for 18 years one bit. Once you move into your dorm or apartment, it's all up to you. Your parents aren't going to be around to make sure you ate or set your clothes out so they can go in the washer. It's all on you now, you are an adult.
For those of you who are going to a university next year or even just getting your own apartment and working full time, it can be scary at first but once you get the hang of it, it's really not that bad. When I would come home for the weekend for even for a week during fall break, I really missed my apartment. Not because I didn't want to be at home, but because I felt like an adult and loved having my own space. I do have to say that being on my own is kind of scary but it's a good scary. It just makes me really excited for what my future has in store for me. I don't know where I will be in 5 year, but I can't wait to find out!
I leave you with these last words; welcome to adulthood, you're going to hate it! But it's also the beginning to some of the best years of your life!
