An Open Letter To The Girl Who Thinks She Is Forever Alone

Prince Charming is on his way, he may have had to stop for directions.

An Open Letter To The Girl Who Thinks She Is Forever Alone
Hannah Thurmond

Dear friend,

I know how you feel, I have been there before. All through high school, it never really bothered me that I was the single girl. Although I thought it would be nice to have someone ask me to prom or just ask me if I wanted to go and get something to eat after a football game, but that never happened. And yes, I was the awkward fifth wheel of my prom group even though we all went as "friends".

I got to college and half way through my first semester, I became jealous of the girls who were in relationships. It was one of the hardest things ever to see everyone so happy when I was unhappy. I know exactly how you feel.

I thought something was wrong with me so I began praying to God. I remembered that He was the only man that I should be pursuing since He is pursuing me every single day of my life. Right then, I began to grow in my relationship with Christ through prayer, study, service, and fellowship among other believers.

One night, I was laying in bed about midnight, and I was upset. I began to cry and then I remembered the verse “Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). I remember asking God with big tears in my eyes, “God, why? I have waited long enough for you to move and nothing has happened.” Suddenly I heard the words, “Be Still My Daughter.” Instantly, I had a peace come over me.

Everything happens in God’s timing, because His timing is perfect. Nothing is wrong with you, beautiful one, because you are created in the very image of Jesus Christ. Our Father has big plans for you. He is going to bring you someone when you need him the most, but you must first learn to fully depend on your Heavenly Father. Through His perfect timing, you will meet someone who will completely sweep you off of your feet.

Sweet friend, you deserve a gentleman who is going to: open the car door for you, give you flowers, buy dinner, and dance with you in the rain. Someone who makes you laugh until you cry. Someone who will make you smile so big that your cheeks hurt. But most of all, you deserve someone who will put his relationship with Christ before you and will treat you like the princess that you are.

When you wait for God’s timing, you will realize that the time you were waiting was not actually so bad after all, because you will see the fruits of your labor. I waited for almost nineteen years for God to send me a funny, attractive, encouraging, Godly young man and God has provided me with exceeding, abundantly more than I ever hoped for. The guy I have makes me smile until my cheeks hurt. He makes me laugh until I cry. He will tell me I can finish the assignment at the best of my ability that I am stressing over. But, the greatest of them all, is that he encourages me to strengthen my walk with Jesus Christ daily.

Daughter of the King, dance with God and He will let the right man cut in!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
