As a strong-minded 5 year old, I didn’t want to accept change. My world revolved around my mom and I couldn’t fathom having someone taking her time away from me. On you and my mother’s wedding day, I still couldn’t handle it. (I’m sorry for crying during the ceremony...and at the reception) But after a while, I realized that you were the best person for my mom and myself, and I couldn’t be happier that she found you. I know I don’t say this enough, but thank you. I am so blessed have you as my stepdad and I appreciate everything you've done for me over the years.
Thank you for stepping up when you didn't have to.
You didn’t HAVE to become a part of what seemed like a broken family – a single mom and her tiny, neurotic daughter. You didn’t have to put in the effort and time and love to build an amazing life for us, but you did. It takes a certain, special kind man to do all of that.
Thank you for teaching me life lessons.
You’ve taught me things that I would have never figured out on my own. You’ve stood beside me through every mistake I’ve made. You’ve been there to pick me up when I’m down. You didn't have to, but you still did.
Thank you for helping me with school work when I needed it.
No matter what subject it was, you’d always sit down at the kitchen table with me and help me out. And even when I didn't need it. You were always so interested in how I was doing in school. Thank you for still being interested in how I'm doing in college because without the constant reminders, I don't know if I could do it without you.
Thank you for always supporting me.
You were always there, no matter if it was teaching me how to ride a bike or coaching me on the soccer field my whole life. You were my biggest supporter and you still are. I can’t thank you enough for encouraging me throughout the years in everything I have done and will continue to do.
Most of all, thank you for loving my mother.
You have showed me how a man is supposed to treat the woman he loves. You have showed me what a family is supposed to be like. You have made my mother so happy and I can't thank you enough for that.
You’ve supported me even when I was sometimes being the typical asshole ‘stepchild’, because to you, I’m not a stepdaughter – I'm your daughter, through and through.
Thank you for loving us unconditionally and for never letting us down.
