I want to start this off by saying thank you.

Thank you for pushing me to achieve the best.

Thank you for teaching me the power of my own voice.

Thank you for dedicating your time and heart to helping others learn and grow.

Simply put, thank you.

You were there at the beginning of the end. The last four years of living at home, surrounded by my comfort zone and familiarity. I will always remember the sights and sounds of the first day of school. Tired eyes were met with anxious minds as we all didn't fully realize that summer was over. You would greet us with a smile or maybe a joke. You also sympathized with us as the start of school meant the end of your vacation as well. As the year and years progressed we grew a closer bond. Maybe it's the school we were in and the our city's dynamic, but I always felt as if you were both my teacher and my friend. I knew every day that I walked through those doors that you were there to care about me and help me grow. You were never public enemy number one as most movies sought you out to be. You gave tough love when need be, but you did so out of heart. You gave advice that would alter my perception on situations as you steered me on the right path. I sit and think about all the laughs we shared. I marvel at the idea that you chose a career in which you get to watch kids grow and change–with the power left in your hands. I am very thankful that you used your power for good. I wish I could formulate enough words and sentences to accurately describe the impact that you have made on me and my peers. I know you don't always receive the praise that you deserve, but I want you to know that we are more thankful than we can express. Without your guidance and passion, I would not be where I am today. You have molded me into a student that strives to create meaningful work while enjoying doing so. You have taught me to love to learn and to listen to the ideas of others. You have taught me lessons in the classroom that I have applied to my own life, in which I hope to make an impact on others' lives as a result.

I know that, due to the craziness that is graduation, I wasn't able to give you a proper thank you and goodbye. So, thank you. Thank you for accepting all the late assignments, answering late night emails, and putting up with all of the shenanigans. Although my high school career has ended, I hope that the incoming rounds of students are as thankful for you as I am.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
