Dear Big Sis,
I first want to start this letter by thanking you for all that you have taught me. Thank you for always being my biggest supporter and for allowing me to spread my wings and discover what makes me happy. I look up to you in so many ways, and you have been an inspiration to me. I know, I was once considered the annoying little sister and in some way I still am, but now that we are both older and more mature, I have realized how lucky I am in my life to have an older sister.
I’d like to think that when I was born, you were my built-in-best friend. You have no choice but to love my pain-in-the ass self, no matter how hard it may be sometimes. You are always looking out for me, whether it was my first day of college or my first date. Although we may argue constantly, I know at the end of the day there is no one who loves me or cares for me more than you do, and for that I am forever grateful.
I want to thank you for teaching me it's okay to make mistakes and for always making our family events much more entertaining. I will forever cherish that we are able to teach each other many valuable lessons even as we get older. You and I are completely different, and we have always been, but I respect that we are able to embrace that in each other. We share so much in common and we can always relate to each other no matter the topic. You have helped me tremendously throughout my life, and I hope that I have done the same for you. Thank you for being the one person for understanding how ridiculous I can’t be and for accepting it.
You believe in me in a way that I don’t think anyone else could. I know I’ll always have a supporter in you, and I thank you for that. If I have a crazy dream that may seem extremely far-fetched, I can count on you to inspire me and tell me that I can accomplish anything I set my heart on. You don’t realize the impact you’ve left on me, and I don’t tell you enough how thankful I am for you. All I ever wanted when I was younger was to be more like my older sissy, and when I look back, I realized how annoying I must have been. Thank you for loving me through it all and never giving up on me.
I am very blessed and lucky to have an older sister, and even luckier to have one that I’m so close to. I couldn’t image having a life without you in it, and I wouldn’t want to. Thank you for not only being a sister, but the greatest friend a girl could ever ask for. I’m so proud to call you my big sister. I love you!
Sincerely,
Your grateful little sister
