Dear Zayan,
Welcome to the wonderful yet frightful world! We have been waiting for you for nine months, and you are finally here. Zayan, you bring smiles to our faces, love to our hearts, and joy into our lives. Even though you were born less than a week ago, I love you already!
The first time I laid my eyes upon you I said to myself, "Wait is he real? He looks like a doll, so perfect and adorable." You were swaddled in your onesie with a blue and pink cap snuggling your head. You were fast asleep. I wanted to wake you up and hold your teeny, tiny body, but I couldn't because I guess it's not okay to wake a sleeping baby. Thirty minutes later, your eyes opened. To our surprise, a little dimple appeared as you smiled!
This is only the beginning! I cannot wait until I can pick you up! When you're crying, I'll pick you up, rock you gently, and sing a lullaby to ease your frustration. Well, hopefully that works. If not, I'll distract you with my phone or play Justin Timberlake. I am excited to hear your first word; of course, it's going to be yaya aka me. I'm anticipating your first giggle as I tickle your baby belly or play peek-a-boo with you. The first time you stand up by yourself or walk is going to be a moment I will not forget.
Flash forward to a year, it will be your first birthday! I am going to get you all the cupcakes your little heart desires. If you want cake, I'll get you red velvet. If you want ice cream, I'll bring you a push pop. If I could buy you the world, I honestly would. I wish you many more birthdays and sweets galore to come!
Like I said, this is just the start. You'll be entering school before we know it. You're going to get involved with a sport. You'll get your first boo-boo. You're going to get your first crush. You're going to go through an awkward stage in middle school. You'll begin high school and then college. Oh my, I am going to stop myself right now before I start tearing up. We will get to all of that when it comes. Let's just take baby steps in the mean time.
You're my first nephew. I am just excited to see you grow into the fine, young gentle man that your mom and dad will raise you to be. I will offer you endless love and support whenever you need it. Zayan, there is no doubt that you will be brilliant in every single way and live up to your name.
Love you so much,
Aunty Alyzza (yaya)
