An Open Letter To My High School BFFs

To my Forever Friends,

Where has the time gone? A few years ago we were growing up together spending what felt like the most important moments of our lives with each other. Endless memories at football games, sleepovers, proms, and of course graduation, are nothing but a distant memory. We thought those times would last forever, but looking back, they flew by in the blink of an eye. We promised to keep up with each other, but as we get busier, the days get shorter, and the last time we’ve spoken grows further. Lucky enough, time is irrelevant for a friendship like ours.

A friendship like ours goes so far past what is seen by the eye. We understand each other through a deeper perspective, deeper than most people can even wrap their minds around. We read each others' minds and feel each others' emotions. We take pride in each others' accomplishments and feel hurt by those who betray you. Any argument had, is laughed about shortly after it begins. Keeping a straight face with each other, in any serious situation, is next to impossible.

Our wardrobe is one shared closet, where the majority of the time, any clothing borrowed is a lost cause. Any boring situation is easily made into a fun matter when we are together. Stupid decisions made, were never a bad idea because a great story was always born. We share families and we wouldn't want it any other way. A holiday isn't a holiday when we are not together. Any memory that brings a smile to my face has you guys right beside me. Even though college holds a distance between us, nothing could ever tear apart a friendship like ours. So I guess what I am trying to say is...

Thank you for being the girls who make it possible to spend months apart from, yet reunite like we saw each other yesterday. Thank you for making all time spent together, time well spent. Thank you for still managing to know me better than I know myself. Thank you for continuously making me laugh to the point where I feel abs starting to form. Thank you for still listening to me vent about things you pretend to care about. Thank you for the random texts and calls. Thank you for valuing us enough to keep up. Thank you for providing me with some of my happiest memories. But most importantly, thank you for being my forever friends.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
