Dearest Friends,
I’ve been dreading this day approaching all year long. The “G” word that we were never allowed to mention is now just a few short weeks away and it’s really starting to sink in that you will be leaving. I think the thing that sucks the most about graduating from college is not knowing when the next time I will see you guys will be. I’ve grown so accustomed to you being right down the hall or the next residence hall over that being physically separated is going to be hard for me. You will go own with your grown-up lives and I’ll be finishing up my college years here.
I’m not writing this to be sappy or to make you cry, but because I want you to realize the impact that you’ve made in my life. Even though we’ve known each other for a relatively short part of our lives, you will be the friends that I will never forget. We’ve helped pick each other up during the rough times but also to cheer each other on during the most exciting parts of our lives. We’ve watched each other achieve goals and become somewhat successful.
Our parents and relatives weren’t lying when they said that college is the best four years of your life and to enjoy it because the time flies. I wanted to say thank you for making my college experience so enjoyable and it definitely won’t be the same without you next year.
ou guys have become more to me than a friend, you’ve become a mentor. Whether it’s about how to write a cover letter, fixing a resume, or how to actually talk to a boy, you have been there to guide me along the way and push me down the right path because we all know that I need a lot of guidance. You’ve also inspired me to become a better person and to teach me that college is a time of growth.
I know that no matter where you all go in life, that we will still remain friends. We won’t see each other every single day like we do now, but that will make the times that we do see each other that much more special. I know that you will all succeed in anything you do because you’re all the most remarkable, intelligent and genuine group of girls that I have ever met.
I wish you all the best of luck in all your future endeavors and the journey that you are about to embark on. You’re each going to be doing great things with your life and I couldn’t be more proud to be your friend. Remember that there’s nowhere to go but forward.
As the famous graduation song goes. “As we go on we remember, all the times we had together. And as our lives change, come whatever, we will still be friends forever.”
I love you guys and will miss you immensely.
Love always,
Your younger friend
