Dear Future Me,
I am so proud of all you have accomplished. Wasn’t all that hard work and dedication worth it in the end? I mean look at you now, you are doing everything you wanted to. Nobody ever said life was going to be easy… in fact life is the hardest thing you will face. People told you that you shouldn’t be stressing but you did anyway, why? All of those all-nighters and stressful “problems” all paid off. Look at you now, you are living your dream and being the best you can be. It is easier now to see that it wasn’t worth it. All of those problems that you thought were once the end of the world are now just memories.
I found that growing up helps you find yourself and helps you learn exactly what you want and need in life. Yes, it was hard to let go of what you were used to, and moving on with something you are not. I wish you knew then that those pointless fights were not worth it and realize that it becomes less important to have more friends and more important to have real ones that actually matter. All of that energy that you used to care so much about what other people think of you is now wasted. If you grow up constantly thinking everyone has the same heart as you then you are just going to end up disappointed. Yes, we all made mistakes in our past but those mistakes only made you strong. Whether it was for the good or the bad, I moved on and learned that its all apart of growing up. Being mature comes with being stupid and you will never know unless you try. So all of those stupid decisions and rebellious nights were worth it. We all have to grow up sometime in our life and we have to thank our past for the lessons we learned and thank our future for giving us another chance.
You know that you finally grew up when you can look back and laugh on all the “problems” you had. You do not know how lucky you once were to be a teenager, where you can do anything and everything. You don’t even know the definition of stress until you have a job, house, and a family. So go out there and do something today that you will thank your future self for. It is very important to listen to your dreams because you will find out that they are smarter than you are. Keep doing you and stop worrying about what other people think of you. Put yourself first for once and enjoy the ride because when you look back at your life it is so worth it. You have to live with the decisions you make, so help yourself out and make your future a bright one. Never be afraid of change, change is a good thing. Take a deep breath and keep doing what you are doing. When you look in the mirror you will see what you have become and should be so proud of yourself.
