Open Letter To My Future Campers

Whether it’d be biased opinion or proven fact, Texas A&M is one of the best universities in the nation, with the best camp programs to transition freshman and transfer students into college life as an Aggie. In the three to four days of camp, counselors perform skits, yell chants, and bond with a handful of students to hopefully prepare them for what they are about to experience at Texas A&M. So, future camper, this one’s for you.

To My Future Camper,

Where ever you are in this world know this: I’ve been waiting months to be able to meet you and see your wonderful face. Although I didn’t know you and you didn’t know me, I been praying for you and for the journey that you chose to embark on. You are already so loved and I promise you that you have just made the greatest decision of your life. These next few years at A&M will be the most exciting and amazing times of your lives. You will be challenged and tested but will experience things here that no other university offers. Texas A&M is full of rich history, diversity, traditions and so much more. Our school excels in more ways than one including numerous sports teams, academics, school spirit, organizations, and long lasting memories.

In a number of days, you will set foot on campus for the first time as an Aggie student and you will literally have the world at your fingertips. There are so many opportunities waiting for you at this school and all you have to do is grab them.

As your DG parent I can only hope that you will enjoy camp as much as I have these past few months. The idea of you has kept me motivated through the late nights and the planning and let me tell you, you are worth it. I can’t even begin to express to you how much you mean -- not only me, but to my partner and the entire camp. We are rooting for the dreams you plan to make reality and for the friends that turn into best friends but more importantly, we are rooting for you. You are going to do some amazing things in your time at A&M, and it all begins here. So, here’s to the start of the rest of your lives and I’m so happy to be part of it.

Love,
Your hopeful DG parent

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
