An Open Letter To My Friends Who Deserve The World
Myself (Erin Blackburn)

Dear you,

Yes, I am talking to you. I know there are so many times you do not think much of yourself. You claim to be “an awful person” or “not a good friend”, but guess what though? You are wrong. You are one of the most amazing people that I have met, so stop being so hard on yourself. If you were the “awful” person you claim to be sometimes, I would have stopped being your friend a long time ago because I only have the most amazing people in my life. I know that no matter how many times I tell you that you’re the best, it’s still hard for you to believe. I just wish you could see yourself through my eyes, or the eyes of all the people who love you. So I am here to tell you about how special of a person and a friend you are.

You are incredible. You have been there for me through all my ups and downs. You always listen to me no matter what I’m saying, and trust me I know I can be quite annoying sometimes. It can be hard to find a friend that is always there to listen, so I am glad I have someone like you.

You are beautiful inside and out. I know it can be hard for you to see that in yourself, but I PROMISE you it is true. I find that inner beauty is such an amazing quality for someone to possess, and you definitely have that. You are always able to see the good in bad situations, something that I struggle with from time to time. Also, you give so much of yourself to everyone. Always putting people first even when you are feeling down. Just remember though, sometimes you have to put yourself first and that is okay.

You are hilarious. You have the ability to make me laugh until my stomach hurts. I love surrounding myself with people who make me smile, and also people that I can make smile too. Happiness is such an important part of life and you bring happiness to everyone around you.

You are lovable. I know there are awful people out there that can bring you down, but do not listen to them because they are so wrong. You are kind, caring, and selfless. If someone says otherwise please do not listen. There will always be there people that will tear you down and make you feel worthless and not lovable, but try not to let it get to you. I still love you and so do so many other people, and you do not need anyone in your life that does not.

Lastly, I want to say thank you. Thank you so much for coming into my life and choosing to be my friend. Thank you for being there for me for my ups and downs. Thank you for driving me places, the car rides full of singing, long talks, late nights, and adventures. Also, thank you for never leaving my side and sticking around. I cannot wait for you to receive what you have put into this world because you deserve it. You absolutely deserve the world for being the amazing person you are. I love you so much and I will always be here for you.

Love,

Your friend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
